For now, here are the players that impressed in WIAA action, spanning from March 28th to April 3rd

DIAMOND NOTES

+ It was another strong start for LHP Braiden Boyd (Chelan, 2023; Washington State), who’s been really impressive on the bump in his junior season. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound southpaw punched out 11 hitters last week and walked none, tossing a five-inning no-hitter on 65 pitches.

+ MIF Aiden Jackson (Bellarmine, 2022; Paradise Valley CC) had quite the performance against Emerald Ridge in front of our scouts last week. Jackson finished the contest with four hits, including two singles, a double, and a loud three-run blast. He scored four runs and drove in three, serving as an all-around offensive catalyst for his squad to cap off a comeback win.

+ One of the state’s top uncommitted seniors, RHP Cameron Kallsen (Richland, 2022) strung together a quality outing against Hermiston last week. Hallsen hurled a complete game shutout, holding his opposition to just two hits without walking anyone. He punched out 16 batters on 90 pitches, 63 of which were strikes.

+ RHP/INF Carson Burns (Jackson, 2022; Everett CC) had arguably the week’s most notable outing on the mound. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound senior was literally perfect, not allowing a single blemish across a flawless seven innings. He struck out 12 batters on 75 pitches, 60 of which were strikes in Jackson’s win.

+ Uncommitted C Carson Ackerman (Woodinville, 2023) drove in four runs on four hits last week, including both a double and triple. Ackerman also scored twice, capping an all-around loud performance for Woodinville. He is currently the 58th ranked prospect on our updated 2023 rankings.

+ 1B/LHP Jacob Bresnahan (Sumner, 2023; Seattle University) made quite the offensive statement, blasting three home runs in a game against Puyallup. The 6-foot-3, 175-pound left/left athlete finished the game with five RBIs and he scored three times.

+ Last Wednesday, LHP Miles Gosztola (West Seattle, 2023; Gonzaga) recorded 13-of-15 outs via strikeout while allowing just one walk and a hit across his outing. The former PBR Future Games participant remains one of the top prospects in the state’s junior class and has now put together multiple dominant performances on the mound this spring.

+ Yet another southpaw that caught our eyes on the mound last week: LHP Sax Matson (Olympia, 2023; Washington State). The 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior hurled six innings of one run ball, punching out seven batters and allowing just two runners to reach base via a walk and a hit.

+ We’ve seen LHP Bjorn Johnson (Lincoln, 2023) flat-out pitch this spring and the state’s top uncommitted junior did so again last week. In a complete game shutout, Johnson allowed just four batters to reach base on his own doing, striking out 10 in the win.

+ Two prospects from Federal Way had strong weeks worth highlighting: MIF Anthony Myers (2022, Skagit College) and RHP Orlando Young (2025). Myers has been on fire hitting for extra bases through the first nine games of the season and he’s batting .533 across 33 plate appearances, including six doubles, three triples and a home run - including hitting for the cycle last week. Young punched out 11 in six innings and allowed only two runs on three hits in a 2-0 loss to Kennedy Catholic on April 1st. The freshman fireballer has 29 strikeouts in only 13.1 innings to start the season.

+ OF Drew De La Cruz (Jefferson, 2022, Bellevue College) batted .500 last week with a double and a home run along with eight RBI and four. walks in three loses.

+ RHP Logan Anderson (Shorewood, 2023) threw six innings in a no decision last week against Jackson. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound junior only allowed an earned run in his outing, scattering four hits and striking out six in the process.
