PNW Preseason All-State - 2027's Quick Hits

Dylan Grenz
Associate Scout

On Monday February 17th, Prep Baseball PNW hosted Pacific Northwest Preseason All-State at The Hub Indoor Sports Complex in Centralia, WA. The premier invite-only event of the preseason featured Washington and Oregon athletes in the 2025-2028 graduating classes, with several outstanding showings throughout the day.

Preseason All-State serves as an identifier heading into the spring high school season, providing Prep Baseball scouts and college recruiters a list of prospects to follow as they plan their spring coverage. We also tend to see prospects’ best performances in the preseason, as most athletes are fresh and coming off of strict and targeted off-season training programs that have resulted in big gains. Standout performances can lead to invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events, including the Pacific Northwest State Games, Prep Baseball Future Games, and more.

Today we release our 2027 Quick Hits, detailing scouting notes on standout 2027 graduates from the event. Players are listed alphabetically by last name.

Several more of the top standout 2027's and 2028's were recently highlighted by Prep Baseball VP of Scouting Shooter Hunt in his Dandy Dozen - PNW Underclassmen article, which can be read here.

PNW Preseason All-State (2.17.25)

2027 Quick Hits

OF Brooks Barker (Capital, WA)
Standout athlete had jumps in metrics across the board since previous look. 6.90 second runner with quickness that translates to the outfield. Exit velocities took big leaps at the plate, up to a 98.9 MPH peak thanks in part to a 79.4 MPH peak bat speed. Starts in open RH stance with a strong, balanced lower half. Quick turn through the zone with a whippier barrel path. Pick to click this spring.

RHP/INF Kellen Bowman (South Salem, OR)
One of several excellent prospects out of South Salem High School in recent years showed out at All-State. FB ticked up to 86.3 MPH, sitting 84-86 throughout bullpen. CH/CB offspeed combination with both offerings in the low 70's. Peaked with a 96.9 MPH exit velocity at the plate, with a 354 foot max batted ball distance a new personal best as well. Sophomore on the rise.

1B/RHP Emmett Brown (Glacier Peak, WA)
Physical two-way talent had a loud showing on both sides of the baseball. Was the best of all 2027's at the event with a 104.1 MPH peak and 93.5 MPH average exit velocity. Flatter line drive approach, but did have a max batted ball distance of 393 feet. On the mound, FB sat 84-85 MPH, with a simple, repeatable delivery. CH/SL offspeed combinations, both with lower spin rates. 6'3, 225 pound frame for bat-first prospect.

RHP/OF Talon Coker (Tahoma, WA)
Long, lean 6'2 frame on the mound, took some jumps in stuff in this look with plenty more projection still left as well. FB sat 85-87 MPH from a higher 3/4 slot release. 4-pitch mix with starter-type arsenal, filling the zone with a CH/SL/CB combination. Firm CH at 78-80 MPH kills spin well. 7.28 runner with ability shown in the outfield, with throws up to 84 MPH. Also showcased RH swing at the plate with exit velocities north of 90 MPH. High upside arm.

RHP/INF James Collier (Silverton, OR)
Strong two-way talent with plenty of physicality in 6'4 frame. Tight operation on the mound, running the FB up to 86 MPH with spin rates north of 2300 RPM on the pitch. Firm CH at 80-83 pairs with a sharp CB at 69-71 MPH. Stays stacked in lower half at the plate with easy gap power. Peak exit velocity of 98.6 MPH, averaging 91.2 MPH with a max batted ball distance of 367 feet. Able to throw from multiple arm slots and move laterally in the infield.

LHP Ben Foglio (Clackamas, OR)
Pitcher-only with smooth, polished delivery and operation. Works from 3B side of the rubber, with quiet head and steady tempo in delivery. Balanced throughout release and finish. 3/4 slot release gives some natural run to FB up to 84 MPH. Offspeed combination features CB in the upper 70's and CH with the ability to add and subtract. Both play to the bottom part of the zone.

INF/RHP JT Girod (Central, OR)
One of the top sophomores in Oregon with a mature game for some time now. Features a quiet setup with a compact, direct swing from the right hand side of the plate. Peaked with a 97.3 MPH exit velocity, averaging 88.4 MPH. 7.12 60-yard dash time. Some quickness in the infield, with soft hands at field point. Also ran the FB up to 85 MPH on the mound with a simple, repeatable delivery. Sophomore to circle.

RHP/INF Austin Halvorson (Jackson, WA)
6'1 righty arm showed nice gains on the mound, working the FB up to 86.8 MPH while sitting 84-85 MPH throughout. Strongest offspeed pitch continues to be a sharp CB in the low 70's with over 2500 RPM of spin. Showed increased feel for a CH at 81-83 MPH as well. Lean frame also had sound rounds of BP, with a peak exit velocity of 95.5 MPH. Plenty of frame to still fill out, could see more jumps in metrics.

OF Gino Humphrey (South Eugene, OR)
One of the more impressive hitting performances on the day. Set new personal bests with a 102.9 MPH peak exit velocity, a 90.6 MPH average exit velocity, and a 373 foot max batted ball distance. Quick, twitchy hands through the zone and a peak bat speed of 80.8 MPH creates hard contact. Short strider in the outfield, fields over lead leg consistently. 7.18 60-yard dash time. Standout showing.

RHP/OF Zach Nelson (Lincoln, WA)
Another sophomore that filled up the stat sheet in multiple ways. Arm may currently be the most standout tool, as Nelson flashed a three-pitch mix on the mound while running his FB up to 86 MPH. Some shoulder tilt and higher intent throws. 6.93 second runner with ability to play all three outfield spots. Consistent hard contact at the plate, peaking with a 96.6 MPH exit velocity and averaging 90.3 MPH. Intruiging follow.

OF/RHP Will Prinz (Bishop Blanchet, WA)
A top-ten ranked '27 in Washington, Prinz showcased his athleticism in Centralia from the start. 6.75 runner in the 60-yard dash was a new best. Drove the ball in the air in BP rounds with a peak exit velocity of 97.6 MPH, carrying a heavier barrel through the zone. Strong outfielder. Four-pitch mix on the mound with a FB at 81-83 MPH, and a CH with some fading action as the strongest offspeed offering. Important bat for Blanchet this spring.

RHP Adam Swanson (Kelso, WA)
One of the largest jumps in "stuff" on the mound since previous look. Added strength and quickness in delivery led to FB sitting 84-86 MPH. Long, swinging arm action with leg swing carrying momentum toward 1B side post-release. Pounded the bottom of the zone with all three pitches. 6'4 frame ideal moving forward, more velocity could be coming. Will be a crucial arm for Kelso this season.

OF/LHP Hudson Thom (Tahoma, WA)
A breakout candidate this year that was last seen in the fall had another impressive look in Centralia. Bat and hand speed present that led to a 99.8 MPH exit velocity from the left hand side. Direct hand path with long, higher one-handed finish. Quickness present, 6.86 60-yard dash time ideal for outfield. Some present strength in 5'11 frame.
