Top 10 High School Matchups
3/11 - Puyallup vs. Mount Vernon
What better way to start the season than with this matchup? The Vikings and Bulldogs will both enter this season hungry after state runner-up finishes in each of their respective classes last season. Both teams bring back a vast majority of their varsity rosters, with Mount Vernon headlined by #1 ranked senior Xavier Neyens, and Puyallup by the #2 senior and reigning Prep Baseball Player of the Year Mason Pike. There may not be a matchup all spring with more pro scouts in attendance due to these two standout Oregon State commits.
Both squads boast plenty of talent apart from the two top-ranked seniors as well. Puyallup features standouts such as 2027 Brayden Landry (uncommitted) and 2025 Gage Thompson (Oregon State commit) in the infield, while 2026 Maxwell Schweyen (Washington commit) figures to see an increased role on the mound. Mount Vernon returns 2025 INF/OF Dylan Jacobs (Edmonds CC commit), while juniors Brady Collins (uncommitted) and Baird Brewer (uncommitted) will contribute to what should be a formidable lineup. Both teams will enter the 2025 season with state title aspirations and are near the top of Prep Baseball's 2025 Washington HS Team rankings.
3/15 - Kennewick vs. North Creek
This early-season nonconference bout will feature two teams returning a majority of their talent and coming off of impressive 2024 seasons. Kennewick finished last season 21-4 but will be motivated after getting bounced early in the 3A state playoffs. North Creek nabbed a 4th place finish in the 4A state playoffs, including an all-timer 12-inning battle with eventual state champions Richland in the state semi's.
Kennewick will feature the dynamic senior middle infield duo of Dane Chavez (Washington State commit) and Dierks Chavez (Columbia Basin commit), while 2026 OF/LHP Dylan Mamiya (uncommitted) is a dynamic all-around piece. North Creek will be led by their depth of arms, with 2025 Dominic Wilson (Everett CC commit), 2026 Kody Moyer (uncommitted), and 2026 Jack Cochran (uncommitted) all returning after throwing more than 40 innings last season. Two teams that Prep Baseball are extremely bullish on will face an interesting test early on.
3/15 - Richland vs. Woodinville
The 2024 4A state champions, Richland will look to carry momentum of their undefeated season into 2025 despite losing several key contributors. They host a Woodinville side that will look to ride the strength of their pitching and top-end talent. For Richland, key returners including 2026 OF/RHP Michael Revell (uncommitted) and 2025 INF Carter Upmeyer (Northwest Nazarene commit) will be staples near the top of the lineup, while arms such as 2026 Braylon Edwards (uncommitted) and 2026 Kamiakin transfer Deegan Quesenberry (uncommitted) will shoulder a bulk of the innings.
Woodinville will look to top-ranked 2027 Eli Jones (Oregon State commit) and top-10 2026 Sam Courtney (uncommitted) to dominate, with 2026 LHP Braden Perry as another arm to keep an eye on as well. Two teams with high hopes will meet at Richland's home grounds.
3/21 - Enumclaw vs. Olympia
Coming off of a 24-2 2024 record, Enumclaw will make the jump from 2A to 3A and face a great nonconference opponent in Olympia early on. Headlined by 2025 RHP Cooper Markham (Oregon commit), the Hornets will get some thump in their lineup from 2025 1B Landon Wall (Ottawa commit). Enumclaw will have to replace a large portion of their lineup production, so we look forward to seeing the new-look side this season.
Olympia is headlined by 2025 INF/RHP Trace Pruitt (Washington commit), while 2025 OF/LHP Lincoln Berg (Lower Columbia commit) can do a little bit of everything for the Bears. Olympia was 16-8 with a state tournament appearance in 2024 and will be a tough out throughout the spring.
3/26 - Edmonds-Woodway vs. Mountlake Terrace
The first conference matchup in our top ten features two teams that made the state playoffs in 2024, with Edmonds-Woodway earning a 3A 3rd place finish. The Warriors will ride the arms of 2027 Declan Crawford (uncommitted) and 2026 Lukas Wanke (uncommitted), providing bulk after the departure of top-10 2027 Grafton Marshall-Inman. 2026 INF Cruz Escandon (Washington State commit) will be a steady bat at the top of the lineup.
Mountlake Terrace finished last season 19-5. Junior RHP Owen Meek (uncommitted) will look to build off of a stellar '24 campaign, while 2026 RHP Jack Gripentrog (uncommitted) has upside as well. The Hawks will have opportunities available in the lineup with serveral key bats graduating, but seem to always find a way to produce in recent years. Two evenly matched sides with Wesco League title aspirations will make for an intruiging set of matchups.
3/29 - Battle Ground vs. Issaquah
Battle Ground has several high-level matchups scheduled, including an early bout with Mount Vernon. They'll face an Issaquah side with plenty to prove this spring. Battle Ground is led by reigning GSHL Player of the Year, 2026 LHP/1B James Gill III (Washington commit). 2027 SS/RHP Cooper McGowan (uncommitted) features a smooth overall game, while 2028 C/RHP Collin McGowan (uncommitted) is one of the most physical and tooled up prospects in his class.
Issaquah is headlined by multiple high level seniors, including Hudson Carvalho (Oregon commit) and Ernie Wheelan (Portland commit). Senior 1B Jacob Swanson (Arizona Christian commit) features some big time pop with the bat when right. Issaquah is coming off of an 11-9 season in a tough KingCo conference and will look to compete as a dark horse in the league again.
4/3 - Tahoma vs. Kentlake
If you're a fan of pitching, this matchup will be the one for you. Tahoma boasts perhaps the deepest set of arm talent in the state, while Kentlake's rotation should more than hold their own. Tahoma will be led by workhorse senior LHP Adam Jay (Lower Columbia commit) on the mound as well as 2026 LHP Neal Burtis (Oregon State commit) and 2025 RHP Bryson Leach (Gonzaga commit). The lineup may have some questions but will be led by a steady offensive presence at the top in 2026 SS Beckett Turnbow (uncommitted).
Kentlake, coming off of a 17-7 season, will be led by reigning 3A NPSL Player of the Year 2026 Christopher Moore (Washington commit). Moore provides dominant innings as a RHP while being a staple at SS and in the middle of the order as well. Senior LHP Devin Tep (Centralia College commit) should provide two-way upside, while #2 ranked 2028 SS/RHP Lincoln Moore should make an immediate varsity impact as an extremely talented freshman. Pitching on both ends as well as high-end prospects will make this matchup a highlight of the spring.
4/21 - Lakeside vs. Ballard
A couple of potential pro prospects headline this bout between two Metro League sides. Ballard is coming off of a 17-8 season, good for second place in the league last spring. Senior catcher Truitt Madonna (UCLA commit) will lead the Beavers in a big way as a strong, physical presence. Fellow senior Danny DiMarco (uncommitted) and junior Miles Soja (uncommitted) look to provide some lineup depth. The key for Ballard will be replacing key innings from graduating seniors in '24.
Lakeside is coming off of a 15-9 season last year and are headlined by 2025 INF Teddy Tokheim (Stanford commit). The senior is the third ranked player in the state and should provide big time pop in the middle of the order. Future Games alum 2026 Tilden Hsu (uncommitted) provides a well-rounded game. The junior switch hits, is a sound catcher and sits in the upper 80's on the mound. 2026 Jai Penalver (uncommitted) is another compelling option on the mound for the Lions. Madonna and Tokheim will be the draws for scouts in this one, but the matchup provides two talented sides overall.
5/1 - Mt. Spokane vs. Gonzaga Prep
Two of the best squads in Eastern Washington will not face off until late in the season, meaning playoff positioning could be at stake in these matchups. Gonzaga Prep comes off of a 19-8 season and an appearance in the 4A State Playoffs, losing to the eventual state champions Richland. 2026 OF Anthony Karis (Oregon State commit) leads the Bullpups as arguably the most dangerous junior bat in the state. The Future Games alum will be joined by 2026 C Jaxon Buckner (uncommitted) who returns after hitting over .340 last season. Senior RHP Connor Wood (uncommitted) also returns after logging over 50 innings and a 2 ERA last season.
Mt. Spokane finished 2024 19-7, and return a large majority of their talent from last year. Juniors Connor Moffitt (uncommitted) and Kyle Rayment (uncommitted) both provide versatility. Moffitt is a solid lefty bat that has posted triple digit exit velocities and run the fastball into the upper 80's this preseason. Senior Brayten Ayers (Northwest Nazarene) returns after winning league MVP last season. Look for the Wildcats to be at or near the top of the Greater Spokane League once again. A rivalry game late in the season between two solid teams earns this matchup a spot in the top ten.
5/6 - Bainbridge vs. North Kitsap
A matchup featuring two of the best 2A teams in the state with likely playoff implications is a must-see late in the season. Bainbridge is led by a pair of D-1 arms in 2026 RHP Trey Thompson (Oregon commit) and 2026 RHP McCrea Curfman (Utah Valley commit). 2025 Duncan Bos (Seattle University commit) and 2026 Will Rohrbacher (uncommitted) will provide pop in the middle of the order, while 2026 AJ Larsen (uncommitted) offers athleticism atop the lineup.
North Kitsap has a deep, talented side. Seniors Tate Stearns (Johns Hopkins commit) and Nolan Rowe (College of San Mateo commit) return after hitting 3-4 down the stretch last season. Juniors Dawsyn Anderson (uncommitted) and Jonathan Borque (uncommitted) will provide two-way ability. 2028 catcher and JFG alumni Teague Weible could contend for varsity playing time as well. One of the premier 2A matchups this spring cracks the top ten with two skilled sides on display.
