Washington Rankings Spotlight - 2028 Prospects

Dylan Grenz
Associate Scout

Yesterday, Prep Baseball Washington unveiled our first Rankings Release for the Class of 2028. The rankings list featured a total of 35 prospects with high-end talent that will be sure to impact their respective high school teams.

The 2028 Rankings marked the final rankings list update before 2025 preseason events. As always, Prep Baseball rankings are a fluid and ongoing process, with multiple looks needed to gauge prospect talent levels. Rankings lists are made as a joint effort by multiple Prep Baseball Scouts, utilizing previous looks and fellow baseball coaches word of mouth to create the most accurate lists possible.

Today we spotlight three players from the 2028 rankings list that attended a Prep Baseball event in 2024. To see a player's complete profile information, click on their name below. To see the complete 2028 rankings list, click here

Jessie Gonzalez 2B / SS / Bellevue High School, WA / 2028

Medium-framed lefty bat was a Junior Future Games attendee in Georgia this summer. Quiet, balanced setup at the plate. Short, hovering leg lift load starts in sync as hands retract away from frame. Simple bat-to-ball approach, extends to meet ball out front with loose, whippy finish. 85.5 MPH max exit velocity, found the sweet spot 88 percent of the time. Quick, active feet defensively. Fields ball at center of frame, shuffling and following through throws. 3/4 slot release with high gloveside follow, 73 MPH throws across the diamond. Smooth all-around game.

Jack Simons 2B / RHP / Richland, WA / 2028

Two-way player was seen in May at the Reign Baseball Scout Day. Ran the fastball up to 77 MPH on the mound with a changeup/curveball/slider combination rounding out the four-pitch mix. Simple, repeatable delivery from the wind, fills up the zone. Showcased a sudden right-handed swing, working from a firm front side into a two-handed finish. Soft hands with a wider base defensively, shows comfort moving in either direction to field. Plenty of room to grow and add strength in frame. 7.48 runner in the 60.

Brody Vigansky 3B / RHP / West Valley, WA / 2028

Physicality present in 5'11 frame. Some present pop at the plate. Starts in slightly open RH stance with weight stacked over rear side. Short strider with a firm front side and slight shoulder tilt at contact. Bat speeds up to 69 MPH with a peak exit velocity of 85 MPH. Defensively, sits deep into lower half at prep step with sound fundamental actions. Controlled mover with intent in throws. Up to 73 MPH throws across the diamond. Frame likely projects to corner infield position. Prospect to keep an eye on moving forward.
