MAUSTON, WI - In the 17U Championship bout, heavyweights Hitters Baseball and STiKS Academy Black squared off against each other, in a rematch of their pool play contest on Saturday. STiKS got the best of Hitters in that one behind a stellar pitching performance from Luke Fox (Catholic Memorial, 2020) who threw a complete game one-hitter picking up the win 3-0.
This time Hitters would return the favor when it mattered most. RHP Eric Erato (Sussex Hamilton, 2020) tossed a complete game, scattering just one run and five hits while walking two and striking out three. Erato was masterfully efficient needing just 88 pitches to go the distance.
Erato, a Northern Illinois commit, also chipped in two hits with an RBI and a run scored, after getting two extra-base hits (triple and a double) in the Hitters semifinal win.
Mitchell Alba (Franklin, 2020) and Gunnar Doyle (Oak Creek, 2020) both filled out the box score with a pair of hits each. Doyle hit a tracer to the right center gap for an RBI triple in the fifth and Alba drove in two runs on his two hits.
Hitters finished the weekend off with a 5-1 record and won the 17U Championship out of the three-seed in that division, capturing their third Badger State Battle Title.
