This Saturday, Feb. 12 the PBR Wisconsin team is hosting the Fox Cities Preseason ID at the Players Choice of the Fox Cities in Appleton, Wis. This is an open event for all high school classes (2022-25), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

EVENT HISTORY

We've been hosting this event for the past seven years, and it's consistently provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the PBR Future Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2021, there are already eight commitments among them.

The biggest winner of this event last year was RHP Theo Zeidler (Bay Port, 2022; Bradley). His performance at this event, along with multiple strong performances throughout the summer circuit, earned Zeidler a spot on our national Class of 2022 rankings, where he currently sits at No. 329 overall. He broke out in Appleton this time last year, and he ultimately committed to Bradley as the spring went on. Another righty that blew up at this event in 2021 was RHP Thomas Burns (Hortonville, 2023). That just so happened to be the first of many stellar outings from Burns last year, and his outing at the Fox Cities ID propelled him to earn an invitation to join Team Wisconsin at the PBR Future Games in August. He's since become one of the top uncommitted pitchers in the Midwest, now ranked inside the top-350 overall in the nation.

2022 ROSTER

This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, just like in years past.

A teammate of Burns at last year's Future Games, RHP/INF Brayden Olson (Saint Croix Falls, 2023), is set to attend on Saturday. Listed at a long-limbed 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, Olson has plenty of upside on the mound. In our looks we have seen Olson reach 87 mph with his fastball and couples it with a hard-running changeup, his go-to secondary. The physical projection left in Olson's stature has us excited to check in on him this Saturday after another offseason of work for another one of the top uncommitted juniors in the region.

Another junior to keep an eye is RHP/INF TJ Hauser (Appleton East, 2023), who garnered some attention at this same event last year. A potential two-way prospect, the left-handed hitter showcases a smooth uphill swing that creates some sneaky pop. On the mound, there is a lot to like about Hauser’s lean 6-foot-1, 175 pound frame, and he's grown an inch and added about 15 pounds since our last look. Last year, Hauser ran his fastball up to 83 mph and showed a quality spinning curveball that he could spot low in the zone, all stemming from a clean order of operation on the mound.

RHP/INF Carter Kriewaldt (Freedom, 2023) is another prospect on this year's roster that impressed at this same event in 2021. There, Kriewaldt popped up as a name to follow in the ‘23 class, especially on the mound. Similarly to the aforementioned Hauser, Kriewaldt stands at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds and has reached 83 mph with a fastball that jumps from his hand. Currently, Kriewaldt sits at No. 84 in the Badger State's Class of 2023 rankings. 

Back in October of last year, at our Southern Wisconsin Open, 1B Eli Pantzlaff (Waukesha West, 2023) had one of the most complete rounds of BP of the event. Built at a stout 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, Pantzlaff showcases noticeable bat speed and raw power while at the plate, and his numbers back it up. The last time we saw Pantzlaff, his max exit velocity was 98.5 mph and was responsible for the day's farthest hit ball (354 feet).

Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a PBR showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.

EVENT CHECK-IN PROCESS

Because of the high number of prospects set to attend Saturday's event, it is imperative that you read our adjusted showcase itinerary below, which will allow our staff to swiftly and efficiently educate and evaluate the players set to attend.

Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smartphone camera that will lead them to a Google Form. On that Form, players will enter their name (matching the spelling on their PBR profile) and hit submit. Upon submission, players will be prompted to click a link that will direct them to their jersey color and number, located next to their registered name.

Finally, masks are encouraged during non-baseball activity. We will facilitate a contact-less check-in. Staff will wear masks throughout the event. Wear baseball clothes; assigned and numbered PBR jerseys will be provided.
