La Crosse Aquinas 15, La Crosse Logan 6

LA CROSSE, WI - La Crosse Aquinas snapped La Crosse Logan's five game win streak in a Mississippi Valley match-up.

La Crosse Aquinas pounded out 19 hits in a 15-6 victory over La Crosse Logan, improving the Blugolds of Aquinas to a 2-1 conference record, and dropping Logan to a 2-2 record in conference. Logan was scoring 16 runs per game in their last three games prior to Wednesday night.

Sophomore and No.13 ranked Rudy Rott, put together a perfect day for Aquinas, reaching base in all 6 at bats, and going 4-for-4.  Rott displayed a slight switch in his setup from the winter, having a stance that is slightly open, but reduced from a few months ago. Rott has physically matured from the winter, looking taller and leaner, and his stance change has resulted in better balance and timing at contact.

Rott was hit by a pitch in his first at bat, hit the pitcher with a line drive in his second at bat, hit a sharp line drive to right, walked, hit another line drive to right center, and finished his day with another line drive off of the pitcher.

Senior infielder Nolan Ritter, a member of the Aquinas State Champion basketball team, was also a perfect 4-for-4. Ritter has some smoothness to work out in his swing, but runs with advanced speed. His foot speed is apparent on the base paths as he used it to bunt for an easy single.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Alex Dee threw in relief for Aquinas.  Dee works from a 3/4 arm slot, with a long back swing. Dee showcased late life that ran in hard on right handed hitters. Logan's hitters made his late life apparent with some ugly swings against Dee.
