On Sunday, February 27th, the PBR Wisconsin staff will travel to Impact Sports Academy in De Pere, WI., to host the first ever Green Bay Preseason ID. This event will provide our staff an up-to-date look at some of the top prospects in the area prior to the start of the WIAA season and is open to all current high school grad classes.

ROSTER PREVIEW

This year’s roster is shaping up nicely with several of the area’s top talents headed our way on Sunday.

Easily one of the biggest winners from this winter’s showcase circuit was RHP/INF TJ Hauser (Appleton East, 2023) after an all-around impressive showing at the Fox Cities Preseason ID. A 6-foot-1, 175-pound uncommitted junior, Hauser ran his fastball up to 89 mph and showed one of the day’s better breaking balls in his ‘pen. He’s an athletic left-handed hitter too and his arm strength translated to the infield as well, peaking at 88 mph on his hardest bullet across the diamond.

A few of the state’s top-100 prospects in the 2023 class, who are still uncommitted, are notable names on this roster. MIF Garret Hietpas (Appleton North) is a scrappy up-the-middle defender with an athletic right-handed stroke that has shown well in-game for our scouts previously. The same can be said for MIF Landen Lozier (Notre Dame Academy), who flashed at the Fox Cities Preseason ID a few weeks ago, as a left-handed hitter with steady actions on the infield. RHP Cole Bensen (Bay Port) is a proportionally strong 6-foot, 195-pound junior that’s pitched well for us in the past and has reportedly seen an uptick in velocity throughout the off-season.

The lone committed prospect in attendance is CIF Javin Gauthier (De Pere, 2024; Illinois State), who’s also a top-10 player on our current state sophomore rankings and the younger brother of former top prospect JP Gauthier. A 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed hitter, Gauthier has shown above-average game power to us in the past and we’re interested to get an up-to-date look at him this weekend.

Sunday will provide us with a first look at a trio of intriguing names in the state’s 2024 class that we have yet to see in a showcase setting: RHP Brennen Grams (Kimberly), LHP Brady Koester (Kimberly), and C William Hoerner (Appleton North). All three are high-upside prospects that we’re eager to see for the first time.

Although we’re not completely familiar with most of the 2025 prospects on this roster, RHP/OF Trevor Vande Hey (Wrightstown) was another name-to-know from the Fox Cities Preseason ID a few weeks ago. He took arguably the day’s most physical round of BP, flashing well above-average juice for his age with a max exit velocity of 97.6 mph and his furthest batted ball traveled 356 feet, per TrackMan. We’re expecting to see him toe the rubber on Sunday and we’ve received positive reports on him as an arm throughout the off-season, too.
