This Sunday, Feb. 14, the PBR Wisconsin team is hosting its first event of 2021, the Kenosha Preseason I.D., at Puma Baseball Academy within the Fielder’s Choice Training Facility in Kenosha, Wis. This is an open event for all high school classes (2021-24), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

EVENT HISTORY

We've been hosting this event for the past four years, and it's consistently provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the PBR Future Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2020, there are already 14 commitments among them.

Last year’s event gave us an opportunity to get our first look at LHP Dylan Lapic (La Crosse Central, 2021; Milwaukee Area Tech JC commit), who’s one of the top southpaws in the state’s senior class. We also saw INF/C Nicklas Williams (Union Grove, 2021; Wabash Valley JC), a physical, athletic prospect who steadily climbed up our 2021 rankings throughout his high school career. 

We're looking forward to checking in on the next crop of talent from this event to earn next-level attention in the coming weeks, months, and years.

2021 ROSTER

We’re excited to get an up-to-date look at two intriguing athletes representing their states’ respective 2022 classes: RHP/OF Ethan Clark (Lakes Community, IL) and C Joseph Lagina (Freedom Project Academy).

Built at a lean, lanky 6-foot-2, 165-pounds, Clark has shown legitimate two-way potential in the past. His loose right-handed stroke allows him to create consistent leverage through contact, elevating the baseball and working gap-to-gap. We’ve seen him touch 83 mph on the mound, comfortably working in the 80-82 mph range with the ability to land both his offspeed pitches for strikes.

We recently highlighted Lagina in our Winter Watchlist: Uncommitted 2022 Catchers article as a junior backstop to follow throughout the showcase season. He’s built at a strong, sturdy 5-foot-11, 200-pounds, bringing physicality and bat strength into the batter’s box with a short, compact right-handed stroke. Lagina performed well at our 16U PBR at The Rock Championships this past summer, slugging a home run over the left field fence after launching a deep double to that same fence earlier in the day.

INF Marco Falletti (Wilmot, 2023) is a sophomore who made a strong first impression at this same event last year. He followed it up with a couple strong in-game performances along the summer circuit, so we’re looking forward to our latest look, following the offseason.

Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a PBR showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.

NEW CHECK-IN PROCESS

Because of the high number of prospects set to attend Sunday's event, it is imperative that you read our adjusted showcase itinerary below, which will allow our staff to swiftly and efficiently educate and evaluate the players set to attend.

Additionally, in an effort to continue and develop contactless check-in strategies, upon arrival, players will scan a QR Code with their smart phone camera that will lead them to a Google Form. On that Form, players will enter their name (matching the spelling on their PBR profile) and hit submit. Upon submission, players will be prompted to click a link that will direct them to their jersey color and number, located next to their registered name. 

ITINERARY

Due to state guidelines, and the facility's requirements, there will be a limit to the number of people inside the facility at one time. This showcase will operate in segmented groups, by position, under the format as follows: (Players registered for multiple sessions will need to leave the facility after completing their first session and arrive at the designated check-in time of their next session; parents will NOT be allowed inside of the facility.)

Finally, masks are mandatory during non-baseball activity. We will facilitate a contact-less check-in. Staff will wear masks throughout the event. Hand sanitizer stations will be accessible. Wear baseball clothes; assigned and numbered PBR jerseys will be provided.
