The Madison Preseason I.D. analysis continues with corner infielders. We saw a lot of big bats in the corner infield group, led by left handed hitting Shane Coker and right hander Vinnie Hubli. Both put strong bats on display and show the ability to hit well at the next level.

There are plenty of physically projectable corner guys in this group that will be high follows this spring. Here’s a look at how it all breaks down.

Top Corner Infielders

1. Shane Coker, OF/1B, Athens, 2015
6-foot-3, 200-pound left handed outfielder/first baseman, advanced build, large frame with developed strength. Offensively brings a left handed power presence to the plate. Hits from a slightly open stance, short stride, solid lower half. Well above average power, pull side approach with slight lift in his swing, timing can improve, hands works, fluid rhythm and maintains some balance. 89 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively shows a more natural presence around the bag at first. Athletic footwork, hands play. In the outfield plays through the baseball with a crowhop, 82 mph arm from the outfield, corner outfield type. 4.41 runner down the line

2. Vinnie Hubli, 3B, Bradford, 2015
5-foot-10, 180-pound third baseman, stronger build. Offensively one of the better hitters in his class. Hits from a slightly open stance, short stride, maintains excellent balanced through contact, overall athletic and loose setup. Advanced bat speed, excellent approach, gap to gap hitter, doubles guy. 93 mph exit velocity from the tee. Path is short to the baseball, makes hard contact with aggressive approach. Defensively uses a short arm action across the diamond, high ¾ slot, arm played at 71 mph. Hands are playable, proper footwork, 4.44 runner down the line. Hubli is a strong offensive threat in the Class of 2015 and a strong follow at the next level.

3. Taylor Borchers, RHP/3B, Appleton North, 2016
6-foot, 180-pound two-way prospect, stronger build. One of the top prospects in Wisconsin’s 2016 class. On the mound delivery has balance and rhythm, stays on line with a squared finish. Arm action is long and loose, ¾ slot with little effort. Fastball has slight running action to his arm side, showed the ability to command the baseball, 81-83 mph. Curveball has 10/4 shape, flatter action, is able to consistently throw for strikes, 62-63 mph, could be better suited for a hard slider. Changeup has sink, feel for the pitch, 67-70 mph. Offensively hits from an open stance, short stride, maintains balance. Strong hitter, makes hard contact, line drive hitter, gap to gap approach, well above average bat speed, 79 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively plays with softer hands, third base type, showed the ability to play through the baseball with athletic footwork, body control present. Arm action is loose, lower slot, 74 mph across the diamond, athletic arm action. 4.43 runner home to first.

4. Cody Link, 1B/RHP, Edgewood, 2016
Large frame, 6-foot-5, 190-pound two-way player, lean build, projects well. Offensively hits from the right side, wider stance, balanced setup, short stride. Swing shows strength, hard contact, advanced bat speed, 93 mph exit velocity. Has power potential. Defensively showed some athleticism, hands played, long arm action at 72 mph across the diamond. On the mound uses a similar arm action, fastball is mostly straight, occasional cut action, showed control of the zone, 77-79 mph. Curveball has 12/6 shape, 70-71 mph. Changeup has slight arm side action, 77 mph.

5. Alec Marsh, 3B/RHP, Reagan College Prep, 2016
6-foot-2, 185-pound two-way player with an athletic frame and long legs, projects well. At the plate hits from a balanced, slightly open stance, short stride, solid lower half involvement, quality balance. Has line drive swing with gap-to-gap coverage, fluid rhythm and loose hands, quick swing that generates lift and barrel whip. Exit velocity was 81 mph off the tee. At third base he plays through balls athletically with sound hands and clean exchanges. Arm works short, high ¾ slot, 72 mph across the diamond. Posted a 4.43 home to first time. On the mound he uses a tall and fall delivery with clean lines, some rhythm, regular effort. Arm works quick and loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball was 79-82 mph for consistent strikes. Changeup was a quality off speed offering, sitting 69-73 mph with sink. Curveball has 11/5 shape, sitting 66-67 mph.

6. Jeff Steuck, 3B, Kenosha Tremper, 2016
6-foot-2, 190-pound corner infielder with a strong, athletic frame that projects well. At the plate hits from a balanced stance, short stride, strong lower half usage, solid balance through contact. Swing is short and level with extension, gap-to-gap approach, fluid rhythm and above average bat speed. Exit velocity was 85 mph off the tee. Defensively there is plenty to like. Shows soft hands, fluid feet, and athletic actions playing through the ball out in front. Arm works short, over the top, 74 mph across the diamond. Posted a 4.91 home to first time.

7. Kian O’Brien, INF, Madison LaFollette, 2015
5-foot-11, 185-pound infielder, stronger build. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, short heel lift stride, maintains strong balance. Bat path gets to the baseball efficiently, gets extension, strong hitter, gap to gap approach. 83 mph exit velocity from the tee, bat speed present, possible power potential. Defensively showed soft hands and the ability to play through the baseball, body control present, above average actions. Arm action is loose, high ¾ slot, 76 mph across the diamond. Footwork is present, 4.22 runner down the line.

8. Eric Paz, 1B, Tremper, 2015
Longer frame, 6-foot, 190-pound left handed hitting first baseman. Offensively hits from the left side, athletic setup, good balance through contact. Loose athletic hands, slight lift, pull side approach, hard contact. 78 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed above average footwork, hands played around the bag. Arm action is short, high ¾ slot. 72 mph across the diamond. 4.44 runner down the line.

9. Griffin Doersching, 1B/RHP, Greendale, 2017
6-foot-2, 230-pound two way player with a large, strong frame that projects well. At the plate he hits from an open stance. Swing is fluid and strong. Uses a toe tap load and launch sequence and generates advanced bat speed and power. Consistently strong contact with strong extension. Exit velocity was 82 mph off a tee. At first base he showed he can move with athletic feet and knows his way around the bag. Arm action is athletic and short, 67 mph across the infield. Posted a 4.69 home to first time. On the mound he uses a tall and fall delivery with clean lines, regular effort. Arm works clean, high ¾ slot. Fastball was straight, 74-78 mph. Showed advanced feel for changeup, throwing it with quality sink and fade, 71-73 mph. Showed the ability to command his curveball for strikes, throwing it with 11/5 shape, gradual break, 66-70 mph.

10. Nolan Schoonveld, RHP/3B, Middleton, 2015
6-foot-3, 170-pound athletic, lanky, two-way player. On the mound his delivery has easy effort, smooth rhythm, upright finish. Arm works long, quick, low ¾ slot. Fastball showed run and sink, sitting 80-83 mph. Changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed, 72-75 mph with sink, for strikes. Curveball was 71-73 mph, on one plane. At third base he showed solid hands, clean exchanges, and plays through it athletically. Arm works short, from high ¾ slot, 78 mph with accuracy. Posted a 4.33 home to first time. At the plate he hits from a balanced stance, short stride, strong lower half, quality balance through contact. Line drive type swing with fluid rhythm, above average bat speed. Exit velocity was 79 mph off the tee.

Cameron Allen , 3B, Hamilton Sussex, 2016
5-foot-11, 200-pound third baseman, solid frame, stocky build with strength. Hits from the right side, balanced stance, short stride. Strong hands with power potential, short compact swing with extension and hard contact to the middle of the field. Line drive gap to gap guy, 78 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed the ability to play a corner infield spot, hands work, limited range, plays through the baseball, arm plays at 75 mph across the diamond. 4.43 runner down the line.

Jack Collins, LHP/1B, Denmark, 2015
Strong build, solid lower half, 6-foot-3, 195-pound left handed pitcher and first baseman. One of the top left handed pitching prospects in the state. Tall and fall style delivery, works directionally. Arm action is loose, high ¾ slot, little effort. Fastball has slight run, 82-85 mph, has the ability to control the zone. Curveball has 11/5 shape, showed feel for the zone, 67-70 mph. Changeup is advanced, sinking action, near fastball arm speed, showed control, 69-71 mph. Hits from the left side, balanced stance, short stride. Gap to gap approach, 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively showed natural abilities around the bag, plays through the baseball. Arm shows carry, 77 mph across the diamond. Collins is a high follow prospect, projecting as a high level left handed pitcher.

Jordon Gomez, RHP/INF, Marshall, 2016
6-foot, 160-pound two-way player, gangly frame. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, leg lift stride. Front foot hitter, 69 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively plays with a loose arm action, high ¾ slot, 68 mph across the diamond. 4.76 runner home to first. On the mound arm works from a high ¾ slot, 70-73 mph, mostly straight. Curveball has 11/5 shape, 61-62 mph. Changeup has slight sink, 67-70 mph.

Jordan Graf, INF, La Crescent, 2016
5-foot-11, 170-pound infielder. Offensively hits from the right side, balanced setup, toe tap stride. Bat path is level, longer path slightly uphill. 80 mph exit velocity from the tee, showed the ability to make hard contact. Defensively arm action is short, over the top slot, 66 mph across the diamond. 4.75 runner down the line.

Jack Hinton, 1B/C, La Crosse Logan, 2017
6-foot, 185-pound multi positional player. At first base he showed solid footwork and feel around the bag. Arm works at 61 mph. As a catcher his arm works long, 68 mph with average carry. Pop times were 2.3-2.44 seconds. At the plate he hits from an open stance, front foot gets up and down with no stride, maintains balance. Swing is short and steep, with low effort. Exit velocity was 67 mph off a tee. Posted a 4.3 home to first time.

Jordan Krueger, LHP/1B, Mukwonago, 2016
6-foot, 190-pound two-way player, solid build, projects more on the mound. High follow pitcher in the 2016 class. Tall and fall style delivery, works with rhythm, can get more separation. Arm action is long and loos, ¾ slot, regular effort. Fastball showed slight run with occasional sinking action, 81-83 mph, touched 84 mph, showed control of the zone. Curveball has 11/5 shape, showed control of the zone, 65-66 mph, touching 70 mph. Has excellent feel for changeup, advanced action, sink in the zone, 72-73 mph. Defensively plays with above average footwork around the bag, arm plays similar to that on the mound, 73 mph across the diamond. Hits from the left side, open stance, taller setup, short stride. Showed occasional bat speed, 84 mph exit velocity from the tee.

Adam Lukas, RHP/1B, Grafton, 2016
6-foot-2, 220-pound two way player with a strong frame. On the mound he has a tall and fall delivery with regular effort. Arm works long and loose from a low ¾ slot. Fastball is straight, sat 77-80 mph, flashing 81 mph once. Throws a curveball with 10/4 shape and sweeping action, 62-68 mph. Showed feel for his changeup, throwing it for consistent strikes, 73-75 mph. At the plate he hits from a balanced stance, backward hand load, short stride, some balance. Swing is stiff, with a short path. Exit velocity was 73 mph off a tee. At first base he showed stiff actions. Arm works at 72 mph across the diamond. Posted a 4.68 home to first time.

Brady Olson, 3B, Palmyra-Eagle, 2017
6-foot-1, 180-pound third baseman, long athletic frame, slender build. Offensively hits from a tall setup, longer stride dives in to the plate. Front foot type hitter, flat through the zone, 79 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively used a longer arm action, 67 mph across the diamond. Can play through the baseball more. From the left side ran a 4.25 runner down the line.

Charlie Peterson, OF/RHP/INF, Waukesha South, 2017
6-foot-2, 175-pound multi-positional, long limbed player. Arm works long and loose, high ¾, from both the infield and outfield. Outfield actions much more natural and athletic. 72 mph from the outfield. 69 mph across the infield. Ran a 4.51 home to first time. Showed a solid swing at the plate. Hits from an open stance, short stride, quality balance through contact. Line drive swing with level path. Exit velocity was 73 mph off the tee. On the mound he has a tall and fall delivery, level shoulders, clean lines, and regular effort. Arm is long and loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball was straight, 73-76 mph for strikes. Throws an 11/5 breaking ball with rolling action, 63-65 mph. Changeup is thrown with fastball arm speed for consistent strikes, 68-72 mph with fading action.

Calvin Rauls, C/3B, De Forest, 2016
5-foot-10, 155-pound catcher/third baseman, slender build. Offensively hits from the left side, wide stance, minimal stride. 74 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively posted pop times at 2.44-2.61. Arm played from a short high ¾ slot. 67 mph out of the crouch, 63 mph across the infield.

Shamus Segersten, C/3B/OF, Marian Central Catholic, 2016
6-foot-1, 185-pound catcher/third baseman/outfield. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, short loading action, longer stride, can get more out of lower half, solid balance. Strong swing, power potential, gets extension, above average bat speed. Defensively works with a short arm action, 81 mph from the outfield, 73 mph across the infield and 68 mph out of the crouch. Posted 2.19-2.45 pop times. 4.44 runner down the line.

Zach Steuck, C/3B, Lodi, 2016
Strong build, 6-foot, 175 pound, above average strength for age. Offensively hits from the right side, open stance, short stride, partial lower half involvement, able to retain balance. Shows strength at the plate, creates extension, short to the baseball, above average bat speed, 79 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively plays with a short arm action, over the top slot, 76 mph out of the crouch. Posted pop times at 2.07-2.19. 4.43 runner down the line.

DJ Sweeney, LHP/INF/OF, Milton, 2017
5-foot-10, 180-pound left handed two-way player. On the mound arm works from a high ¾ slot, short arm action, delivery falls to third base side. Fastball is mostly straight, 73-75 mph, touched 76 mph. Breaking ball sits 69-71 mph. Changeup has sink 70-71 mph. Offensively hits from both sides, balanced stance, short stride. 78 mph exit velocity from the right side, 72 mph exit velocity from the left side. Defensively in the outfield plays with two hands through the baseball, high ¾ arm slot, short arm action, 72 mph from the outfield, outfield actions similar to infield actions, 69 mph across the diamond.

Dryden Van Schoyck, RHP/1B, DeForest, 2016
Long lanky frame, slender build, 6-foot-3, 180-pound two-way player, frame has high projectability. On the mound uses a long arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball has run, 77-78 mph, touched 79. Curveball has 12/6 shape, 65-66 mph. Changeup has fade, 69-72 mph. Offensively this from the right side, balanced stance, short stride approach, slight leg lift, solid balanced with two handed finish. 84 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively uses a long firm arm action, showed the ability to play through the baseball. 72 mph across the diamond. Showed foot speed running a 4.12 down the line. Projectable prospect who is a strong follow.

Hunter Yerke, 1B, Parker, 2016
5-foot-11, 165-pound left handed first baseman. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, short stride. Bat path works uphill, abbreviated finish, smooth rhythm, 79 mph exit velocity from the tee. Showed natural footwork around the bag, arm action is short from a high ¾ slot. 69 mph across the diamond. 4.33 runner down the line.
