JANESVILLE, WI – No. 14 Janesville Parker came into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the Janesville Sectional, but No. 8 seed Madison West came out energized and nearly pulled off the upset. Leading by two runs in the bottom of the seventh, the Vikings roared back in grand fashion to walk off with the 5-4 win.

Trailing two runs in the bottom of the seventh Parker’s Logan Coulter stepped to the plate after a leadoff walk to Zach Bailey and hit a majestic two-run homerun to right field to tie the game at four. After the massive celebration at home plate the energy clearly shifted to the side of the Vikings and continued their offensive attack. Four batters later the Vikings had West on the ropes with the bases loaded and one out. Brennan Olin lifted a fly ball to right center easily deep enough for Mitch Brenway to score the winning run and letting the celebration begin.

Sophomore left handed pitcher and Big Eight Conference Player of the Year Hunter Van Zandt picked up the win working all seven innings with little help from his defense early in the game. Madison West junior Simon Rosenblum-Larson was sharp early and gave the Regents the early momentum, only able to work three inning after pitching four on Tuesday Rosenblum-Larson struck out three allowing one unearned run.

Logan Coulter led the Parker offense with two hits a run scored and three RBI including the game tying two run homerun in the bottom of the seventh.

After winning the regional Janesville Parker will take on crosstown foe Craig in a Sectional Semifinal matchup on Tuesday June 10 at 10:00 AM at Riverside Park in Janesville.
