PBA Demarini 16u 15 STiKS Academy 2019 8

At Marian PBA Demarini exploded for 15 runs in a 15-8 victory over STiKS.

For PBA Adam Cairo went 2-4 with three RBIs and Chris Heywood went 3-4 with three runs scored. For STiKS Ryan Mazza had a two run single and scored two runs.

Strikezone 10, Silver Sluggers 17u 4

Strikezone finished off their tournament with a 10-4 win over Silver Sluggers.

Strikezone offense was led by the bats of Tanner Williams (Arrowhead, 2017), Hunter Milbrath (Jefferson, 2017), Tanner Smith (Kettle Moraine, 2017) and Blake Cottrell (Arrowhead, 2017).

Left-handed hitting leadoff hitter, Williams, went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Milbrath added two hits and three RBI, scoring once. Smith went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple, driving in one and scoring once. Cottrell chipped in with two RBI on two hits.

Panthers Red 16U vs Rhino Wisconsin 16U

A huge first inning propelled Appleton Panthers Red 16U to an 8-0 win over Rhino 16U in the last game at UW-Oshkosh on Sunday.

The Panthers scored seven runs in the first despite only getting two hits in the inning. Rhino started off the inning with back-to-back errors, and things snowballed from there. Ryan Brouch (Appleton West, 2018) and Hunter Barber (Oshkosh West, 2017) both hit two RBI singles in the inning. The Panthers also scored a run on a first and third base running play.

Taylor Shallue (De Pere, 2018) scored in the third with the help of an errant throw after a single by Duane Englund (Escanaba, 2017) to give the Panthers an 8-0 lead.

Rhino only mustered two hits all game, thanks to a complete game performance by Leighton Myers (Little Chute, 2017).

Ben Destiche (Kimberly, 2018) took the loss for Rhino after 0.2 innings of work. He gave up seven runs, which were all unearned.

Barber finished 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs for the Panthers. Noah Duncan (Notre Dame, 2017) was 1-for-2 for Rhino.

 

STiKS Academy 2017 14 SHB Kards 3

At Marian STiKS exploded for 14 runs in a 14-3 victory over SHB Kards in six innings.

Zach Clayton had a huge day at the plate going 4-4 with three doubles and two RBIs. Jonathan Dominguez went 2-2 with four runs scored out of the leadoff spot. Nick Lezczynski had an interesting day at the plate going 1-1 with a single and was hit by a pitch three times. Alec Esenther worked the final two innings striking out three.

Carson Johannsen went 2-2 with a walk for the Kards.

Panthers Black 16U vs PBA Demarini 16U

The Panthers Black 16Us and PBA Demarini 16Us played to a dramatic 3-3 tie at UW-Oshkosh on Sunday. Despite being outhit 13-3 in the contest, PBA made it a close game with their timely hits.

The Panthers struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Nick Akstulewicz (Sheboygan North, 2018) hit an RBI double before Tyler Basten (Green Bay Southwest, 2018) grounded out for an RBI to make the score 2-0.

PBA got on the board in the top of the third. Jacob Kaiser (Catholic Memorial, 2018) hit a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 2-1. They went on to tie the game in the fifth with a suicide squeeze bunt by Adam Cairo (Indian Trail, 2018).

In the sixth inning, Nathan Lefko (Mukwonago, 2018) grounded out for an RBI to give PBA a 3-2 lead.

Down to their final out of the game in the seventh, the Panthers tied the game on the back of an RBI single by Pierce Blowhowiak (Xavier, 2018). However, they left the bases loaded to end the game.

Kyle Fransk pitched a complete game for PBA and allowed three runs. Cole Milton (Green Bay Southwest, 2018) pitched 3.1 innings for the Panthers and struck out five while allowing two runs.

Akstulewicz and Tony Krueger (Appleton North, 2018) both had three hits for the Panthers. Cairo finished 1-for-2 with an RBI for PBA.

The game ended as a tie due to time constraints.

PBA Demarini 17u 9 SHB Kards 3

At Marian PBA put up seven runs in the first two innings and went on to beat SHB Kards 9-3.

In the top of the first Brennan Ferguson delivered an RBI single and John Prudhom followed up with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. Ferguson finished the day going 3-4 with a double and four RBIs. Kyle Antos went 2-3 with two RBIs. Garrett LaBreche scored three runs for PBA.

The Kards scored two runs in the bottom of the second on an error and a wild pitch. Sam Hanson had an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

Ash Port vs Silver Sluggers Blue 17U

Ash Port and Silver Sluggers Blue 17U played to a 1-1 tie in nine innings on Sunday morning at UW-Oshkosh.

The game featured a pitching duel between Ash Port’s Turner Wittig (Ashwaubenon, 2016) and Silver Sluggers’ Taylor Jansen (Sun Prairie, 2018). Wittig scattered three hits over seven shutout innings, while Jansen allowed just two hits in five scoreless innings of work. Jansen struck out six.

There was virtually no offense in the game until the ninth inning. Ash Port had several opportunities to win the game in regulation, but they failed to capitalize.

Ash Port had the bases loaded in the first, fourth and ninth innings and had two runners on base in the fifth and sixth, but they weren’t able to get any timely hits. The game was scoreless until the ninth inning.

In the top of the ninth, an RBI double by Tommy Hill (Madison West, 2017) produced the contest’s first run after nearly two hours of gameplay. Ash Port’s Jordan Nolle (Bay Port, 2017) hit an RBI single in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. Quinn Pierner (Bay Port, 2017) came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs with a chance to win the game, but he flew out to end the game.

Eric Modaff (Oregon, 2017) led the Silver Sluggers with a 2-for-4 performance. Jake Weber (Bay Port, 2017) was 1-for-3 with two walks for Ash Port.

GRB Rays 16/17 12 Strike Zone 4

At Marian in a continuation of a game suspended by rain on Thursday, GRB jumped out to a lead on the first pitch of the resumption in a 12-4 five inning victory over Strike Zone.

With Strike Zone leading 3-2 in the top of the third, GRB loaded the bases before the rains came on Thursday. Eliot Turnquist hit a groundball to third base which was promptly thrown down the right field line to clear the bases and give GRB a 5-3 lead. In the top of the fourth Turnquist again came up with the bases loaded and this time hit a bases clearing double to the left centerfield gap.

Tanner Smith went 2-3 with a triple, stolen base and two runs scored for Strike Zone.

Saturday, July 9

GRB Rays 17u 4, Rhino Wisconsin 17u 3

The GRB Rays held off Rhino Wisconsin after a late push, 4-3.

RHP Thomas Ginther (Baraboo, 2017) looked sharp early working a pair of perfect frames, striking out three.

GRB scored early, tallying runs in the second, third and fourth innings. Carl Valk (Appleton North, 2017) got the offense started with a single and a stolen base in the second, setting the table for a Paul Petit (Eau Claire Regis, 2017) RBI single.

An inning later Cam Cratic (Madison East, 2017) added a run with a solo shot to right. Cratic finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

In the fourth a Nick Elsen (Indian Trail, 2017) RBI double made it a 4-2 GRB lead.

Rhino manufactured a pair of early runs and threatened again in their last at bats. Bryce Braspennickx (Bap Port, 2017) drove in a run with an RBI single, and that would be it for Rhino, falling 4-3.

Rawlings Hitters White vs GRB 16/17

Rawlings Hitters White finished pool play at the Badger State Battle 2-2 after beating GRB 16/17 9-1 in Saturday’s last game at UW-Oshkosh. Eight of Hitters’ nine starters recorded a hit in the game.

Hitters opened the scoring in the top of the second thanks to a two RBI triple by Bradley Hansen (Union Grove, 2017).

They added another run in the third via a sacrifice fly by Jack Kraus (Neenah, 2017). Hansen hit an RBI double in the fourth to make the score 4-0 in favor of Hitters.

Mason Mistele (Baraboo, 2017) grounded out for an RBI to get GRB on the board in the bottom of the fourth. However, Hitters responded immediately in the fifth with a run of their own. Kraus scored on a wild pitch, which gave Hitters a 5-1 lead.

Christian McKelvey (Germantown, 2017) hit an RBI single in the sixth to extend Hitters’ lead to 6-1. They eventually scored two more in the inning thanks to a wild pitch and an RBI single by Zach Campbell (Burlington, 2017).

Hitters scored their final run with a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.

Trentin Uttech (Luther Prep, 2017) picked up the win for Hitters with six solid innings on the mound. He allowed one run on two hits and two walks. He struck out three. Campbell pitched a scoreless seventh for Hitters. Peyton Henry (Columbus, 2017) took the loss over three innings of work. He surrendered three runs.

Hansen finished the game 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBIs. Campbell also had two hits. Eliot Turnquist (Columbus, 2017) had two hits and two stolen bases for GRB.

PBA Demarini 17u 3 Appleton Panthers 17u 2

At Marian PBA jumped out t a lead and held off a late rally by the Panthers to take the last game of the day 3-2.

With no score through two innings and one out 9-hole hitter Alex Westman worked a walk, flowed by a single from Jackson Lubor. With two outs Kyle Antos drove to double deep to left field scoring Westman and Lubor to give PBA the 2-0 lead. PBA added another run in the top of the fourth Brennan Ferguson singled and eventually came around to score to make it 3-0.

Andrew Freiberg kept the Panthers off balance allowing just three hits in 5.2 innings pitched to pick up the win. Jacob Flannery came in to record the four out save.

With only two base runners and one hit through five innings, Arin Ver Hagen walked and Jack Hanauer singled with two outs. Leadoff man Johnny Popham hit a two run triple to cut the deficit to 3-2. Flannery went three up three down in the seventh to end the game.  

Rawlings Hitters Navy 10 Silver Sluggers Blue 0

At Marian Hitters took the lead in the top of the first and used the arm of Mitchell Buban to shutout Silver Sluggers Blue 10-0 in six innings.

Buban went the distance striking out seven and allowing just three hits to pick up the win.

Up 4-0 heading to the sixth Hitters erupted for six runs in the inning to take a 10-0 lead. Jarred Kelenic delivered the big blow when he hit a bases clearing triple with one away. Kelenic finished the game 2-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored. Zion Pettigrew went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Eric Modaff, Liam Belleveau, and Luke DePrey had singles for the Sluggers.

Appleton Panthers Black 16U vs Silver Sluggers Grey 16U

The Appleton Panthers Black 16Us cruised to an 8-2 victory over Silver Sluggers Grey 16U at UW-Oshkosh to move to 3-0 in pool play.

The Panthers scored the first run of the game in the second inning. Logan Eiden (Neenah, 2019) hit an RBI double to make the score 1-0.

They added three more runs in the third inning. Carter Robinson (Appleton North, 2019) hit a two RBI double and Tyler Basten (Green Bay Southwest, 2018) followed with a double of his own for an RBI.

The Silver Sluggers got their only offense in the top of the fourth. Luke Ballweg (Middleton, 2018) hit an RBI single before Dylan Barganz (Baraboo, 2018) hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-2.

From that point on, it was all Panthers. In the fifth, they scored runs on two errors and an RBI singles by Nick Akstulewicz (Sheboygan North, 2018) and Eiden.

Robinson pitched a complete game three-hitter for the Panthers. He struck out four and walked one. Collin Pulkrabek (Madison West) pitched 4.2 innings for the Silver Sluggers and gave up five earned runs on seven hits and four walks.

Basten and Eiden paced the Panther attack with two hits apiece. Both of Basten’s hits were doubles. Ballweg finished 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Silver Sluggers.

Rawlings Hitters Navy 5 Wisconsin Mash 4

At Marian Hitters blew a late lead but came back to walk off Mash 5-4.

Trailing 4-1 in the top of the seventh inning Mash scored three times to tie the game up at four. After back to back walks and a botched double play feed, Andrew Lenz came through with a two run single to make it 4-3. An error by the left fielder allowed Bryce Bradison to come home with the tying run.

In the bottom of the seventh after two quick outs, Pat Sisk reached on an error, Trey Leonard followed with a single, and after Jarred Kelenic worked a walk, Jacob Campbell stepped to the plate. Campbell took a pitch down the left field line to give Hitters a 5-4 walk off win.

Kelenic had a big day at the plate going 2-3 with a triple and two runs scored. Zion Pettigrew and Pat Sisk added RBI doubles. Campbell had an RBI groundout in the first and Nathan Aide picked up an RBI single in the sixth. Ryan Bader worked six innings allowing just four hits and no earned runs.

STiKS 17U vs GRB 17U

A four run fifth inning proved to be the difference in STiKS 17U’s 8-5 win over GRB 17U at UW-Oshkosh on Saturday.

In a back and forth affair, key hits by the bottom of the STiKS batting order led to the victory.

A sacrifice fly by Zach Clayton (Oconomowoc, 2017) gave STiKS a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. They added two more runs in the second on an RBI double by Bryce Konitzer (Mukwonago, 2018)) and a GRB error.

GRB scored their first run in the third inning thanks to an RBI single by Nate Scantlin (Rose Hill, 2017). They tied the game in fourth via a two RBI single by Alan Roden (Middleton, 2018).

STiKS took firm control of the game in the fifth inning. They pushed four runs across, highlighted by RBI singles by Brandon Komar (Elkhorn, 2018), Alex Pierce (Oconomowoc, 2017) and Nick Leszczynski (Brookfield Central, 2018).

GRB cut the lead to two in the top of the sixth with two runs, but STiKS scored another run in the bottom of the frame to finalize the score at 8-5.

Cam Anfang (Jefferson, 2017) pitched four innings for STiKS and allowed three runs on five hits. Komar got the win with three innings in relief and one earned run.

Ben Hauser (Sun Prairie, 2017) and Austin Wagner (Fond du Lac, 2017) both pitched two innings for GRB. Hauser allowed three runs, while Wagner went scoreless. Both struck out two batters.

Jonah Landowski (Oconomowoc, 2017) and Clayton both had two hits for STiKS. Scantlin and Cameron Cratic (Madison East, 2017) had two hits apiece for GRB.


Rhino Wisconsin Flyers 14 STiKS Academy 2019 3


At Marian Rhino took advantage of 11 walks and eight hits scoring 14 times in a 14-3 victory over STiKS in five innings.

A seven run second inning blew the game open for Rhino thanks to five walks and three hits. Eli Kramer lead the offensive attack going 3-4 with 5 RBIs. Leadoff hitter Elijah Berndt went 2-4 with three runs sored. Henry Geil went 1-1 with two runs scored and Carson Kolbe went 1-1 with three runs scored.

Appleton Panthers Black 16U vs STiKS 2018

Some late-game heroics by Cole Milton (Green Bay Southwest, 2018) helped the Appleton Panthers Black 16Us claim a 4-3 victory over STiKS 2018 at UW-Oshkosh.

Tyler Basten (Green Bay Southwest, 2018) went the distance on the mound for the Panthers and limited STiKS’ scoring chances throughout the game.

The Panthers got off to a hot start in the bottom of the first inning. Logan Eiden (Neenah, 2019) hit a sacrifice fly and Basten hit an RBI single to give them an early 2-0 lead.

Both offenses were held quiet from then until the bottom of the fifth, when the Panthers added another run on an RBI single by Tony Krueger (Appleton North, 2018).

STiKS responded with three runs in the sixth. Collin Dorrow (Mukwonago, 2018) hit an RBI infield single off the leg of Basten on the mound to cut the lead to 3-1. Zach Karrels (Arrowhead, 2018) followed with a sac fly, and Carson Radtke (Arrowhead, 2018) hit an RBI single to tie the game.

Milton stepped to the plate in the bottom of the sixth for the Panthers with the go-ahead run on third. He hit a sacrifice fly to give his team the lead and ultimately the win.

In his complete game effort, Basten allowed three runs on seven hits. He struck out two. Jackson Mandella (Nicolet, 2018) pitched five innings for STiKS and allowed no earned runs.

Basten and Pierce Blohowiak (Xavier, 2018) both had two hits for the Panthers. Dorrow finished 1-for-3 with an RBI for STiKS.

GRB Rays Green 9 Rhino Wisconsin 16u 2

At Marian GRB exploded for six runs with two outs in the third to defeat Rhino 9-2.

In the bottom of the third GRB sent ten men to the plate scoring all six runs with two outs. TJ Snedden had the big hit with a two run double. Connor McGowan also added an RBI single in the inning and finished the game going 2-3 with two RBIs. Pinch hitter Ryan Venne came off the bench to delivery a two run double in fourth inning.

Adam Zertasky went 1-2 with a walk and two stolen bases for Rhino.

Rhino Wisconsin 16/15u 11, Silver Sluggers Blue 16u 2

Rhino scored early and often cruising to an 11-2 win over Silver Sluggers Blue.

Tyler Brandenburg (Lake Country Lutheran, 2019) led the offense with a 2-for-3 day, an RBI and a run scored. Shane Ryan added a two RBI double going 1-for-2. Jordan Purdy also collected two hits and drove in one.

Shane Ryan handled the pitching duties working four strong innings, yielding one run on four hits and struck out four.

For Silver Sluggers, Carson Holin (Sun Prairie, 2018) and Jordan Williams (Fennimore, 2018) each had two hit days while Holin drove in a run.

GRB Rays Green 7 Wisconsin Panthers 16u 1

At Marian GRB scored seven unanswered runs after trailing 1-0 through two innings to defeat the Panthers 7-1.

The Panthers struck first in the top of the second when GRB starter Jack Brown ran into some command issues, hitting the first two hitters to start the inning followed by a walk to load the bases. A wild pitch allowed Taylor Shallue to score making it 1-0 Panthers. 

In the bottom of the third GRB tied the game up when Colton Schild walked to lead off the inning. Schild stole second and advanced on a single by Connor Manthey. With first and third and one away the Rays executed a double steal allowing Schild to score the tying run.

In the bottom of the fifth the Rays scored two times with the bases loaded and two away. An error and a bases loaded walk allowed the two runs to score. The Rays opened things up in the bottom of the sixth scoring four times highlighted by RBI singles from Nathan Stevens and Connor Manthey.

Logan King worked three scoreless innings of relief to pick up the save for GRB.

Ash Port 17U vs Strike Zone

Strike Zone used a big first inning to pick up a 5-3 victory over Ash Port on Saturday morning at UW-Oshkosh.

Strike Zone scored three runs in the bottom of the first and pitcher Jack Becker (Arrowhead, 2017) recovered from a shaky start to earn the win on the mound.

Ash Port took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after Michael Rottier hit an RBI single to right field.

Strike Zone responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. Hunter Milbrath (Jefferson, 2017) started things off with a double before Tanner Smith (Kettle Moraine, 2017) belted a two run home run over the right field fence. Matt Brockish (Arrowhead, 2017) hit an RBI single to finish off the scoring in the inning.

Both teams scored a run in the second to make the score 4-2. Blake Cottrell (Arrowhead, 2017) gave Strike Zone an insurance run with an RBI single in the sixth.

Ash Port scored a run on a groundout in the seventh, but that was all the offense they had left in them.

Becker tossed a complete game for Strike Zone. He allowed three runs on six hits and four walks. He struck out six. Rottier pitched five innings for Ash Port and allowed two runs with three strikeouts. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Milbrath, Cottrell and Brockish all had two hits for Strike Zone, who moved to 1-1 in pool play with the win.

 

Friday, July 8

Rawlings Hitters Navy 4 GRB Rays 2

The highly anticipated matchup of Hitters and GRB did not disappoint on Friday night with Hitters edging out a victory over GRB 4-2 at Marian.

Hitters starter Jacob Lindemann and Rays starter Dillion Nowicki bot showed premium stuff in their outings. Lindemann worked five innings allowing just one hit and inducing a lot of groundball outs. The Rays got on the board in the top of the third when Stephen Lund singled to leadoff the inning, advanced on a sacrifice bunt and moved to third on a wild pitch. After a hit by pitch, Walker Jenkins grounded out to short binging in Lund with the first run of the game.

Through the first four innings Nowicki allowed just two hits while striking out five. In the bottom of the fifth Hitters broke through scoring four times to take a 4-2 lead. Zion Pettigrew worked a walk to leadoff the inning, Evan Spry hit a comebacker to Nowicki which was thrown into centerfield. Pat Sisk came up and delivered an RBI single to centerfield to tie the game at one, Alex Rodriguez then singled to load the bases with nobody out. With the infield in Dain Hudson hit a chopper to third and the throw home was in the dirt allowing Spry to score the go ahead run.

Mitchell Buban came up and hit another chopper to third, this time Pat Sisk was forced at home with the first out of the inning. Leadoff man Trey Leonard had a swinging bunt down the first base line that stayed fair to allow Rodriguez and Hudson to score. On the same play Buban was cut down trying to advance to third and Leonard was also out when he was caught too far off of first base.

After taking the lead Jarred Kelenic came out of the pen working mostly 92 mph with his fastball and had a three up three down inning. Jacob Schellpfeffer came in relief of Nowicki in the bottom of the sixth and after a leadoff double by Jarred Kelenic he struck out the side to keep the score 4-1.

The Rays made things interesting in the top of the seventh when with two away Jeff Holtz came thru with an RBI double to cut the lead to 4-2. After a Jarrett Fueger walk brought the go ahead run to the plate, Kelenic settled in and caught Alan Roden looking to the end game.

Ash Port 17U vs GRB 16/17

Ash Port 17U cruised to a 12-4, five inning victory over the GRB 16/17s on Friday evening at UW-Oshkosh for their first win of the tournament.

Ash Port scored five runs in the third and six runs in the fourth to put away GRB early in the game.

GRB opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with two runs. Eliot Turnquist (Columbus, 2017) and Mason Mistele (Baraboo, 2017) both hit RBI singles.

Ash Port got a run back in the second after an RBI double by Turner Wittig (Ashwaubenon, 2016).

In the third, an RBI single by Quinn Pierner (Bay Port, 2017) and a two RBI double by Jacob Heller (Ashwaubenon, 2017) helped Ash Port score five runs and take a 6-2 lead.

Ash Port erupted again in the fourth, scoring six runs to put the game out of reach. Jake Weber (Bay Port, 2017) and Pierner both hit triples and scored on errors to start the inning. Brock Koski (Ashwaubenon, 2017) hit a two RBI double and Heller drew a bases-loaded walk to round out the scoring.

Wittig pitched all five innings for Ash Port. He struck out five and allowed just two earned runs.

Pierner finished the day 3-for-3 with a double and a triple for Ash Port. Peyton Henry (Columbus, 2017) was a perfect 3-for-3 for GRB. 

Wisconsin Mash 5 Rhino Wisconsin 5

At Marian Wisconsin Mash and Rhino Wisconsin played to a 5-5 tie.

Mash scored three times in the first when Matt McNabb and Griffin Summers started the game with back to back doubles. A fielders choice by Kyle Kosobucki and an RBI double from Will Conard brought in the runs to make it 3-0.

Chicago State commit Steven Jacobson went a perfect 4-4 at the plate with a double and three RBIs for Rhino. Jacobson had a two run double in the third inning and an RBI single in the fourth.

Joey Kiesau went 2-3 with a triple, an RBI, and two stolen bases including a straight steal of home to take the lead in the top of the sixth.

Hitters White 17u 4, STiKS Academy 2017 0

Hitters White rode a complete game shutout from Andrew Stekiel (Catholic Memorial, 2017) to capture a 4-0 win over STiKS. Stekiel took a no-hitter into the seventh inning until a single by Ian Drays (Jefferson, 2018) broke it up.

Matt Korman (Waterford, 2017) drove in two runs, including a first inning RBI double.

Hitters Navy vs PBA Demarini 17U recap

Rawlings Hitters Navy’s steady offensive attack proved to be the difference in a 9-4 win over PBA Demarini 17U. Hitters Navy moved to 1-0 in pool play with the win.

A big performance from Jarred Kelenic (Waukesha West, 2018) highlighted a strong day at the plate for Hitters Navy. The Louisville commit went 3-for-3 with a double and a home run.

Both teams scored a run in the first inning. Hitters scored via an RBI single by Garrett Gilbert (Westosha Central, 2017), while PBA’s Brennan Ferguson (Zion-Benton, 2017) hit an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the frame.

PBA took a 2-1 lead in the third inning after Mitch Apple (Kenosha Bradford, 2016) hit an RBI single.

In the fourth inning, Hitters Navy’s Mitch Buban (Kenosha Tremper, 2017) grounded out for an RBI to tie the game, and a wild pitch with a man on third gave them the lead later in the frame. Kelenic capped off the inning by crushing a ball over the right-center fence to make the score 6-2 with a two run home run.

PBA got a run back in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single by Kyle Antos (Kenosha Indian Trail, 2017).

Hitters added two runs in the fifth, highlighted by a solo home run by Hunter Weddel (Kenosha Tremper, 2017).

A bases-loaded walk by PBA’s Garrett LaBreche (Kenosha Tremper, 2017) and an RBI single by Hitters’ Evan Spry (Janesville Craig, 2017) finished off the scoring in the later stages of the game.

Troy Hickey (Wilmot, 2017) got the win on the mound. He pitched 4.2 innings and allowed three earned runs with eight strikeouts. Weddel pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless baseball in relief.

Felix Rosario (Lane Tech, 2017) went 2-for-4 for PBA. Spry finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Hitters.

GRB Rays Green 7 PBA Demarini 16u 0

At Marian the GRB Rays jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first enroute to the 7-0  one hit shutout victory.

In the top of the first Colton Schild and Brady Butler worked walks and came around to score on a line drive triple over the right fielders head by Nick Herbst to give them a 2-0 lead. Dyaln Krumrei hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Herbest with the third run.

Trevor Tietz got the start for the Rays working four innings striking out eight allowing just one hit. Trajan Prochnow worked three innings of relief allowing just one walk while striking out four and getting four groundouts to pick up the save.

Arkansas commit Nathan Stevens had a big day at the plate for the Rays going 3-3 with a triple, double, single and two RBIs.

Danny Osep went 1-3 with a single for PBA.

GRB Rays 17u 10, Appleton Panthers 17u 0

GRB put on an offensive onslaught scoring early and often with four runs in the first inning in route to a 10-0 victory over Appleton Panthers in five innings.

Alan Roden (Middleton, 2018) led the way offensively, falling a home run short of the cycle. In three at bats Roden ripped a single, double and a triple, driving in three RBI and scoring once. Carl Valk (Appleton North, 2017) added a pair of extra base hits in two at bats, an RBI double and a stand up triple, scoring twice.

LHP Trevor Olson (Chippewa Falls, 2017) and RHP Paul Petit (Eau Claire Regis, 2017) combined on the shutout, each fanning three.

RAWLINGS HITTERS WHITE VS RHINO WISCONSIN 17U

The Rhino Wisconsin 17Us held off a late rally by Rawlings Hitters White to claim a 10-7 victory at UW-Oshkosh and move to 2-0 in pool play.

Offense was not in short supply in this matchup. Both teams scored in bunches, but ultimately Rhino made the most of their opportunities.

Rhino took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning thanks to a two RBI double by Zach Carney (Kimberly, 2017).

They added six runs in the fourth inning, which proved to be crucial to the win. Randall Griesbach (Appleton East, 2017) and Justin Sanders (Appleton North, 2017) both drew bases-loaded walks before Evan Bohman (Appleton North, 2016) belted a grand slam to clear the bases.

Hitters White started to claw back in the bottom of the fourth. They scored two runs thanks to an RBI double by Sam Devorkin (Grafton, 2017) and a sacrifice fly by Bradley Hansen (Union Grove, 2017).

Hitters scored four more runs in the sixth to make the game interesting. Zach Campbell (Burlington, 2017) hit an RBI single and Jack Kraus (Neenah, 2017) hit a two RBI double in the inning.

An error and a sacrifice fly by Mike Gross (Hortonville, 2016) gave Rhino a 10-6 lead in the top of the seventh. Hitters scored on an RBI single by Dominic Esposito (Rock Island, 2017) in the bottom of the frame, but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback.

Bryce Braspennickx (Bay Port, 2016) got the win on the mound for Rhino. He pitched 4.2 innings and allowed two runs on six hits, four walks and three strikeouts. Christopher Zak (Shorewood, 2017) took the loss for Hitters, allowing seven runs in three innings.

Bohman finished with two hits for Rhino, while Esposito went 3-for-3 for Hitters.

APPLETON PANTHERS 17U VS STRIKE ZONE

The Appleton Panthers 17Us moved to 2-0 in pool play with a 4-0 win over Strike Zone at UW-Oshkosh on Friday morning.

A strong performance by pitcher Mitch Eady (Appleton North, 2016) and a big fourth inning were enough to guide the Panthers to victory. Eady threw a complete game four-hitter with eight strikeouts for a shutout.

The Panthers got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning. Johnny Popham(Waupaca, 2016) drew a bases-loaded walk to plate the game’s first run.

Jake Husnick (Antigo, 2016) picked up the scoring in the fourth inning. He put a ball in the gap for an RBI, and Jacob Hiltunen (Appleton North, 2017) hit a two RBI double later in the inning to make the score 4-0.

Strike Zone’s best chance to break through against Eady came in the sixth. They loaded the bases with two outs, but Eady escaped the jam by inducing a routine fly ball to center field.

Tanner Williams (Arrowhead, 2017) took the loss for Strike Zone on the mound. He pitched four innings and gave up four earned runs while striking out four and walking six.

Popham finished 2-for-2 at the plate with a double and a stolen base for the Panthers. Williams had two of Strike Zone’s four hits. Jack Becker (Arrowhead, 2017) was 1-for-3. 

APPLETON PANTHERS RED 16U VS SILVER SLUGGERS BLUE 16U

The Appleton Panthers Red 16Us took care of the Silver Sluggers Blue 16Us 10-2 in their tournament opener at UW-Oshkosh on Friday morning.

The Panthers had good offensive performances across the board, but Leighton Myers(Little Chute, 2017) stood out above the rest. The first baseman went 3-for-3 with three doubles and an RBI.

Appleton took a 2-0 lead in the second inning after an error plated the game’s first run and Duane Englund (Escanaba, 2017) hit a sacrifice fly.

The Panthers erupted for six more runs in the third. Brady Tatro (Antigo, 2018) hit an RBI single and Taylor Shallue (De Pere, 2018) followed with a single for two RBIs. Josh Kuntsman (Freedom, 2017) did the rest of the damage with a three run home run.

The Silver Sluggers got on the board in the fourth inning after a two RBI single by Hunter Jacobs (Edgewood, 2018).

The Panthers added runs in the fifth and seventh innings to complete the victory.

Tatro got the win on the mound for Appleton by throwing 3.2 innings and allowing two runs while striking out five. Hunter Barber (Oshkosh West, 2017) pitched the other 3.1 innings and scattered two hits. Jakob Millard (Wisconsin Dells, 2018) took the loss for the Silver Sluggers with seven earned runs in 2.1 innings.

Kuntsman finished the game with four RBIs for the Panthers, while Grant Emme(Kaukauna. 2018) went 1-for-3 with a double. Mitchell Seager (Beloit Turner, 2018) put in a 2-for-3 performance for the Silver Sluggers.

Wisconsin Mash 7 STiKS Academy 4

At Marian Wisconsin Mash made its early lead hold up in a 7-4 win over STiKS.

With a 2-0 lead heading to the bottom of the fourth. Will Conard, Joey Kiesau, and Jared Lenz singled to start the inning and all came around to score to pus the lead to 5-0.

STiKS got on the board in the top of the fifth thanks to an RBI single by Alec Esenther to cut the lead to 5-1. STiKS again came through in the top of the sixth scoring three times to make it 5-4. Jonah Landowski doubled to start the inning and came around to score on an RBI double by Brandon Komar.

The Mash answered back in the bottom of the sixth scoring twice to push the lead to 7-4. Kyle Kosobucki finished the day 2-4 with a double for Mash. Griffin Summers went 2-3 with a double and an RBI for Mash.

SHB Kards 17u 6, Silver Sluggers 17u 4

SHB and Silver Sluggers were in a back and forth affair, tied at 4-4 in the seventh, SHB rallied for two runs and held on for a 6-4 win.

The score tied at four, SHB leadoff hitter Carson Lemanski (Eau Claire North, 2017) ran his way around the bases for the go ahead run. A double by left-handed hitting Sam Hanson (Eau Claire Memorial, 2017) put himself in scoring position for Keagan Calchera (Eau Claire Memorial, 2018) who singled him home.

Silver Sluggers rallied to load the bases in the bottom have of the seventh, but couldn’t scratch a run as the Kards held on for the 6-4 win.

Bay Port 6 STiKS Academy 2019 4

At Marian Bay Port jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and held off a Bay Port comeback attempt in the seventh for a 6-4 victory. 

In the bottom of the first Bay Port jumped all over STiKs starter Nick Rocco, scoring six times. Bay Port leadoff man Mars McGriff was hit by a pitch and after a walk to Logan Donart, Bobby Tilot hit an RBI single scoring McGriff with the first run of the game. Grant Buckner added an RBI single and Jordan Bindas added a an RBI double.

STiKS broke thru in the top of the third when Masen Beatty doubled with one out and came around to score on an RBI single by Nathan Platter. In the top of the seventh with one away Jack Monis singled, Riley Le Tourneau walked, and Hunter Olson singled to bring home Monis. After an RBI groundout by Dustin Pampel, Bailey Banaszynski reached on an error to score Olson to make it 6-4. Bay Port starter Stephen Gnagi got a ground out to end it.

Gnagi worked a complete game while striking out five hitters all looking on his curveball to pick up the win.

Appleton Panthers Black 16u 6, Rhino Wisconsin 16u 3

The Panthers took a 3-1 lead in the second with the help of a pair of Rhino throwing errors, and held on for the 6-3 win. RHP Zach Watzka (Green Bay East, 2018) got the start and picked up the win tossing five innings of two run baseball, striking out six.

Tyler Basten (Green Bay Southwest, 2018) went 1-for-1 with a walk and an RBI double, also scoring a run. Nick Akstulewicz (Sheboygan North, 2018) drove in the only other Panther RBI with a single in the fifth.

Rhino was led offensively by Dylan Govin (West De Pere, 2018) who went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and a run scored.

Silver Sluggers Grey 16u 3 STiKS Academy 2018 2

At Marian Silver Sluggers defeated STiKs 3-2 in the days opening game.

Each team traded runs in the first inning. Silver Sluggers got on the board when Lucas Schramm doubled with two outs and came around to score on an RBI single by Luke Ballweg. STiKS answered back in the bottom half when Stevie Dederrich walked to leadoff the inning and came around to score on an RBI single by Matt Miller.

Sluggers broke it open in the top of the sixth when Sam Smith singled and came around to score on a double by Sam Vomhof. Vomhof eventually came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Owen Greene to make it 3-1. STiKS answered back in the bottom half when Collin Dorrow walked and came around to score on a triple by Bryce Toussaint.

STiKS got the first two runners on in the bottom of the seventh but three straight fielders choices ended the game. Dylan Barganz went the distance for Silver Sluggers to pick up the win.

Rhino Baseball 16u 4 Stiks 2018 1

At Marian Will Monroe and Billy Dorow combined to one hit Stiks in the 4-1 victory. Monroe started the game going six innings without allowing a hit and one earned run.

Adam Zeratsky got things started in the bottom of the first for Rhino on a double and came around to score on an RBI single from Dylan Govin. Tristan Seaman had an RBI single in the first to make it 3-0 after one. Rhino got another run in the bottom of the second when Zeratsky singled to bring in Ben Destiche, who walked with one out.

Jacob Johnson had the lone hit for Stiks, when he singled with one out in the top of the seventh. Bryce Toussaint had a sacrifice fly in the third to bring home the only run for Stiks.

GRB Rays Green 16u 4, Silver Sluggers Grey 16u 3

RIPON, WI - A late sixth inning comeback for GRB edged Silver Sluggers 4-3. Connor Manthey (Columbus, 2018) delivered the game tying two RBI single to left in the sixth. Followed by the game winner off the bat of Nick Herbst, scoring Manthey to take the lead.

Silver Sluggers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. An RBI triple by Luke Ballweg (Middleton, 2018) ignited the offense. Sam Smith had a two hit day for the Silver Sluggers.

GRB was led by Nick Herbst who finished 2-for-3 with a pair of singles an RBI and a run scored. Karsen Rupnow (Oconomowoc, 2018) picked up the win in relief with 3.1 scoreless innings in relief.

Wisconsin Mash 17u - 6, GRB Rays 16/17 – 5

Wisconsin Mash got out to an early 4-1 lead on GRB as Mash starter Jared Lenze (Mauston, 2017), held GRB in check through the first four innings. Kyle Kosobucki (West De Pere, 2017) supplied some early offense with a pair of doubles in his first two at bats, one chasing home an RBI and scoring on the other.

GRB rallied back in the fifth with four runs on just three hits. Some defensive miscues led to most of the runs and GRB took a 5-4 lead into the seventh.

Mash scored twice in the top half of the seventh to retake the lead 6-5 and hold on for the victory. Cameron Shovald (West De Pere, 2017) knocked in the game winner with an RBI single.

Kosobucki led the Mash offense with a 2-for-2 day with two doubles, a walk, RBI and a run scored. Joey Kiesau (Appleton North, 2017) picked up the win in relief tossing a pair of scoreless innings.

Wisconsin Panthers 17u 5 Ash Port 17u 4

At Marian: Trialing 4-2 headed to the bottom of the sixth, the Panthers came up with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to walk off Ash Port 5-4.

Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth Jim Callahan and Johnny Popham each walked to start the inning. Callahan eventually scored on a wild pitch and a passed ball and put Popham at third with one away. Nate DeYoung worked a walk to put runners at the corners. Popham came around to tie the game on a double steal. Evan Sankey came up with runners on the corners and one out and hit a sacfly to center scoring DeYoung for the walk off win.

Quinn Pierner led the Ash Port offense going 3-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Bay Port 16U 2 Rhino Baseball Flyers 16U 1

Bay Port Legion 16U survived a late rally by the Rhino Baseball Flyers 16U to claim a 2-1 victory in the opening round of the Badger State Battle at UW-Oshkosh.

Despite getting outhit two to nine, Bay Port managed to outscore Rhino and start off pool play 1-0.

Brett Stanzel (Bay Port, 2018) put in a solid outing on the mound to limit Rhino’s opportunities throughout the game. He threw a complete game with eight strikeouts for Bay Port to earn the win.

While Bay Port didn’t hit the ball much, they did see the ball well. They drew seven walks, which were crucial to their victory.

The first run of the game wasn’t scored until the top of the fifth inning. Nate Goddard (Bay Port, 2017) reached base on a dropped third strike and was sacrificed to second base. He then advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch moments later to give Bay Port a 1-0 lead.

They added their second run in the top of the seventh. After Jordan Bindas (Bay Port, 2017) drew a leadoff walk, he was sacrificed to second with a bunt. Tanner Klaus (Bay Port, 2017) grounded out to shortstop in the next at-bat, and Bindas advanced to third. An errant throw to third allowed him to score on the play.

The Flyers finally broke through with their first run in the bottom of the seventh. Carson Kolbe (Appleton North, 2018), who represented the tying run, drove in a run with an infield single. Ultimately though, the Flyers couldn’t score another.

Evan Beernsten (Bay Port, 2019) pitched five innings for the Flyers. He allowed just one hit and walked five to go along with four strikeouts. Kolbe pitched the final two innings and allowed one unearned run on one hit, two walks and three strikeouts.

Goddard and Grant Buckner (Bay Port, 2018) both had one hit for Bay Port. Elijah Berndt (Winneconne, 2019), Davis Wilson (St. Mary Catholic, 2018) and Brett Bradison (De Pere, 2019) both paced the Flyers’ attack with two hits.

Rhino 17U vs PBA 17U

The Rhino Wisconsin 17Us used a big fourth inning to beat PBA Demarini 17U 6-2 at UW-Oshkosh in the first game of pool play for both teams.

Joe Cliver (Hortonville, 2016) lead Rhino both on the mound and at the plate. The righty threw a complete game and allowed no earned runs while striking out six. He had two hits at the plate, including a big two RBI double in the fourth.

Rhino opened the scoring in the bottom of the second. Connor Bagnieski (Bay Port, 2016) hit an RBI groundout following a Cody Ryan (Markesan, 2017) triple to give his team a 1-0 lead.

PBA tied the game in the top of the third thanks to an RBI triple by Garrett LaBreche (Kenosha Tremper, 2017).

Rhino reclaimed the lead for good in the bottom of the third when an error allowed Andrew Woeslaw (Bay Port, 2016) to score.

Rhino put the final nail in the coffin with a big fourth inning. Another error allowed a run to score before Cliver hit a 2 RBI double to make the score 5-1.

Woeslaw hit a sac fly in the sixth to add an insurance run for Rhino. PBA scored their only other run in the seventh with an RBI single by Jackson Lubor (Carmel, 2017).

Kyle Gendron (Wilmot, 2018) pitched 3.2 innings for PBA. He allowed five runs on four hits and four walks. Bryce Baldwin (Kenosha Tremper, 2017) tossed 2.1 innings and allowed one run on one hit.

Cliver was the only Rhino player with multiple hits, while Mitch Apple (Kenosha Bradford, 2016) had two hits for PBA.
