PBR Future Games: Wisconsin Day 2 Recap

WESTFIELD, IN- On day two of the PBR Future Games Team Wisconsin opened the day by defeating Team Minnesota/Iowa 4-3. In game two Wisconsin fell to Michigan 5-4, stranding the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh. Let's take a look at the highlights for Team Wisconsin on Day 2.

In game one Nathan Burns worked a perfect 1-2-3 inning including a strikeout. Burns works from a ¾ arm angle with a loose, easy arm action. Repeats his delivery well and showed command of three pitches. Fastball sat 85-86 topping out at 87 mph. Curveball showed sweeping action at 71-74 mph. Changeup sat 76-78. Burns is a top arm to follow in the Midwest 2017 Class.

2017 OF Nick Elsen had the two hardest hit balls of the day. One was a line out to centefield and the other was a single to leftfield that was played into a triple. Defensively Elsen showed off a strong arm on a deep fly ball to right field, firing a perfect strike to the cut off man, and a hold a runner at third. Yesterday in workouts he threw 85 mph from the outfield. 

LHP Troy Hickey worked a perfect inning with two strikeouts. Hickey has a short, quick arm action and a deceptive delivery. Hides the ball well, plus angle, inducing a lot of late swings. Fastball sat 83-85 mph, curveball sat 71-72 mph.

Jacob Lindemann started game one working a perfect inning, including a strikeout. Lindemann has a high front side at balance point and has a loose arm action with natural arm speed. Fastball sat 85-87 topping out at 88 mph. Curveball sat 74-75.

Nicholas Urban-Michalak went 2-5 on the day with two stolen bases. Hit a high bouncer back to the pitcher and beat it out for an infield single running 4.12 down the line from the right side.

Garrett Gilbert showed some opposite field power tripling to the gap in right centerfield. Threw out a would be base stealer in game showing a quick transfer and release and an accurate arm.

Switch-hitting outfielder Carl Valk had a solid day at the plate going 3-5 with a walk. Defensively covered a lot of ground ranging deep into the left centerfield gap to run down a ball.

Griffin Doersching went 2-5 on the day driving in two runs in the first game.
