By Steve Nielsen

This week’s Power 25 is virtually unchanged as all of the top teams won their respective playoff games. Almost every team in the Power 25 played just one game last week and with virtually no consequence on their rankings. Here is a quick look at a couple games of note that had a slight impact on the rankings.

Last week we saw two epic games pitting Power 25 teams against one another.

First in the Division 1 Appleton Sectional, No. 8 Appleton North took on No. 17 Hortonville in a 10 inning battle that saw Kent State commit Connor Wollersheim and Wisconsin-Milwaukee commit Jake Sommers go blow for blow on the mound. Wollersheim and the Lightning came out on the winning side as the southpaw struck out 20 in the process. Kody Fiorito got the game winning walk off hit and the 1-0 victory.

The other hotly contested matchup was in the Division 2 Altoona Sectional where No. 19 Prescott took 13 innings to defeat No. 14 Ellsworth. Ellsworth had to score a bottom of the seventh run just to send it to extras and then in the 12th it looked like Prescott might put them away with a run in the top half of the 12th but the Panthers answered it in the bottom half to send it to the fateful 13th where Prescott scored two runs on two singles winning the Regional Championship.

The only other Power 25 team to lose was No. 20 Waterford who dropped a 5-2 contest to unranked Wilmot.
