IMPACT UNDERCLASSMAN
:

Greyson Zach

Greyson Zach
(2025) is a physically advanced (6-2, 195lb) freshman two-way with an impact caliber bat. Joining the Pirates in his first year with the varsity team, he looks to produce runs for a team that has dominated on both sides of the ball in recent memory. Zach looks the part of a tier 1 run producer as he ages, and will be seen towards the front line of Wisconsin’s freshman class.

X-FACTOR:

Nick Doubek

Nick Doubek
(UW-Oshkosh, 2022) is a senior athlete that contributes big on offense as well as produces meaningful innings on the mound for the Pirates. With heavyweight graduated performers like Grant Ross no longer on the roster, Doubek will be one of the veterans that look to fill what were massive shoes. On the mound, Doubek competes with a mid-80’s mix and knows how to use his pitches.

OUTLOOK:

The Pewaukee Pirates will be led by senior multi-sport state champion Logan Dobberstein (Kansas St, 2022). The 6-foot-6 right-hander shows all the promise of a professional prospect. Falling to injury in 2021, he’s climbing back to the top of the heap as an individual, and looks to push the Pirates towards their end of season goals. His arsenal, when healthy, works into the 90’s with a five-pitch mix. Dobberstein has the look of a big time starter with the makeup and competitive nature to march through the games challenges throughout his career. Next up is senior outfielder Carson Hansen (UWM, 2022). Hansen is one of the states premier sluggers at a lean 6-2, 207 lbs. of strength, and produces a high clip from the left-handed batter's box (.520), and will even eat some innings on this mound for the Pirates when needed. Senior two-way Nick Doubek was a main contributor for the Pirates in 2021, and 2022 appears to shake out the same way. He’ll most likely pull the second starter responsibility for the Pirates, and returns a bat that hit around .500 the previous year. Should that happen again, and he gives meaningful innings to the team, he’ll be one of the most important pieces on the roster.

Carson Hansen

Pewaukee has a deep roster downstream from there. 6-foot-4 two-way
Luke Sopha will look to add value during his senior season with the Pirates. After a tough 2021 dealing with injury, Sopha returns to the team with plenty of ability to offer all around. In looks over the past year or so, Sopha appears to have a presence on the mound that would perform for local colleges. Another body returning from injury is senior backstop Jack Sandvik. Sandvik hit around .350 last year, and should he produce that way again, the Pirates will approach a fully rounded offensive lineup once again.

Luke Sopha

Junior outfielder
Logan Schill may be an overlooked name on this talented roster. Hitting .372 last season and provided plenty of range to a loaded defensive unit in the outfield. Perhaps the junior with the most to add and improve on for this season is that of LHP Gavyn Bowen (UAB). Bowen offers a mid-80’s mix with a swing and miss slider, and has the opportunity to erase all command concerns during the 2022 campaign. Something to note for the Pewaukee roster, is the depth of talented underclassmen that’ll gain experience through 2022. That’ll include Drew Dobberstein (2025), Owen Dobberstein (2025), and Greyson Zach (2025) - all of whom look the part of names to know in the years to come.

Gavyn Bowen

BOTTOM LINE:

After a nearly perfect campaign in 2021, and postseason hopes falling to injuries, the Pirates return in 2022 with a deep and talented roster, led by prospects at the top. The Pirates look the part of the favorites in the Woodland West Conference in 2022, and we may see all players elevate and chip in.
