Wisconsin's Recruiting Roundup: Week of 11/2

Today, we’ll address all the Illinois prospects who made the decision to announce their commitment throughout this past week. We wrapped up our final showcase of 2018 last weekend, so as we head into the fall and winter offseason, now’s the time when recruiting season picks up. This past week was a busy one for commitments, so let’s begin.

2019 COMMITS

Masen Beatty C / Pewaukee, WI / 2019

ROCK VALLEY JC

5/12/18 - 6-foot-1, 187-pound, left-handed hitting catcher, well-proportioned, athletic frame. At the plate, balanced, even setup, wrap load, short leg kick trigger. Long, level bat path, some uphill lift at times, high finish, line drive abilities, rhythm involved. Present bat speed, exit velocity topped 92 mph from a tee. Defensively, pop times ranged 2.11-2.19. Fluid footwork to a quick, clean transfer, short, loose arm action, gets rid of it, over the top slot. Present arm speed,  throws topped 76 mph from the crouch with accuracy. 7.27 runner in the 60.

Reese Dutton INF / Tremper, WI / 2019

HEARTLAND CC

7/24/18 - 6-foot-1, 170-pound infielder, lean athletic build. Strong above average arm across the infield, loose, high ¾ slot, carried with accuracy, 84 mph across. Rangy defender, feet play athletically and showed soft hands, clean glovework. 7.30 runner in the 60. Right-handed hitter, slightly open stance, short stride. Path is short, flashed quick hands, loose easy bat pat. Line-drive gap to gap contact, ability to spray and repeat. 87 mph exit velocity from the tee.

Quin Henwood 3B / 1B / Appleton North, WI / 2019

WISCONSIN-STEVENS POINT

9/23/18 - 6-foot, 210-pound corner infield prospect with large, solid frame with strength. Right-handed hitter, wide/balanced setup, short stride. Strong hands, fast bat, creates gap-to-gap contact. 90 mph exit velocity. Third base profile, athletic fielding position, short, high ¾ arm action, 75 mph throws to first. 7.52 runner in the 60.

Ryan Hubley LHP / 1B / Marquette University, WI / 2019

MADISON JC

9/23/18 - 6-foot-4, 185-pound left-handed pitcher/first baseman with strong, wiry frame that carries further projection. On the mound, works on line and lands square. Long, loose arm action from a high ¾ slot, long draw, arm swing, quick arm speed. Fastball, slight run, 82-84 mph. Slider, 2/8 shape, short and tight action, thrown at arm speed, 73-76 mph. Curveball played at 71 mph. Struck out two in his lone inning of work in simulated play. Left-handed hitter, balanced setup, loads hands back, short stride. Fluid rhythm, line drives to all fields, 94 mph exit velocity. Defensively, long arm action from high ¾ slot, fluid feet, 71 mph throws to third. 7.10 runner in the 60.

Jace Kressin LHP / Menomonie, WI / 2019

EVANSVILLE

7/24/18 - 6-foot-3, 175-pound, left-handed pitcher, lanky frame with athleticism in actions. Methodical pace with back step into balance point, lulls hitter, balance is low with slight coil, tempo speeds at hand break, lands square and finishes athletically. Short, loose, whippy arm action, quick arm speed, gets on hitters, deceptive ¾ slot, some effort. Fastball had run late, life in the zone to both sides, 83-86 mph. Slider, sweeping 2/8 break, sharp in the zone and out, fastball arm speed, 77-79 mph.

Braden Mork RHP / River Falls, WI / 2019

BRADLEY

8/24/18 - ¾ slot with loose arm action. Lean athletic 6-foot-2 frame. 84-86 mph fastball topping out at 87 mph. Mixed in sharp 11/5 breaking ball thrown with fastball arm speed. Interesting pop-up guy on mound and will be followed closely by college programs over the remainder of the fall. 

JD Schultz RHP / Stevens Point , WI / 2019

WISCONSIN-STEVENS POINT

9/23/18 - 6-foot, 180-pound, right-handed pitcher, athletic build. Works with tempo, high hanging leg balance point, drop and drive delivery, works down the mound cross bodied, athletic finish with slight pop up at release. Short arm action, over the top slot, regular effort. Fastball, played straight, 78-81 mph, topped 83 mph. Curveball, 11/5 gradual break, depth at times with arm sped maintained, 64-67 mph. Changeup, worked straight, 74-75 mph. Went two innings striking out four and walking two. 

Caden Uhlenbrauck inf / St. Mary Catholic, WI / 2019

ST. NORBERT

9/23/18 - 6-foot, 190-pound middle infield prospect with some strength. On offense, right-handed, somewhat tall, balanced setup. Drops hands into load, short leg lift stride, looking to pull the ball. Long, uphill bat path, occasional hard contact to the pull side, 85 mph exit velocity. On defense, short, loose arm action from high ¾ slot. Soft hands, clean, athletic exchanges, plays through the ball, 72 mph across the infield. 7.58 runner in the 60.

Nevin Wall RHP / Holmen, WI / 2019

MCHENRY COUNTY JC

3/11/18 - 6-foot, 185-pound, right-handed pitcher, strong, durable frame. Tall and fall delivery, smooth, methodical rhythm, keeps momentum on-line, lands square, finishes upright. Arm action is long and clean from a high ¾ slot. Fastball, running action, 83-84. Curveball, 11/5 shape, depth at times, flashed sweeping action once, 69-71. Changeup, fastball arm speed, fade, 76-77.

Davis Zeutzius RHP / Arrowhead, WI / 2019

WINONA STATE

3/11/18 - 6-foot, 185-pound, lanky right-handed pitcher. Short arm action, quick arm speed, high ¾ slot, regular effort. Tall and fall delivery, works on-line, lands square, finishes athletically. Fastball, slight sink, commanded, 84-85. Curveball, 12/6 shape, depth, fastball arm speed, 67-69. Changeup, fastball arm speed, down in the zone, 75-76.

2020 COMMITS

Cameron Dupont C / West De Pere, WI / 2020

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS

7/27/18 - A long 6-foot-2, 188-pound frame with some wiry strength and room to add more. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a quiet and open set-up with a slight crouch. Uses big and controlled leg lift with a hand load before launching them on a slightly uphill path with bat speed and leverage. In the game, put a couple really good swings on balls including a scorched line drive at the shortstop and a towering three run home run to left at OK Limited Series. Defensively, he shows a strong and accurate arm with carry from behind the dish with 2.05-2.13 between innings pop times.

2021 COMMITS

Noah Miller SS / Ozaukee, WI / 2021

ALABAMA

9/16/18 - 5-foot-10, 160-pound shortstop, high waisted, lean frame. Plus potential defender, hands are soft with advanced actions and body control, smooth and confident on the infield, advanced IQ, showed ability to make all the non routine plays. Arm plays up, carries well across the diamond and accurate from all slots, showed arm strength and accuracy on backhand play in the six hole. Switch-hitter, looks natural from both sides, path is short and stays on top of the baseball. 4.51 run down the line on a fielder's choice. 

2022 COMMITS

Gavin Kilen SS / Janesville Craig, WI / 2022

LOUISVILLE

8/25/18 - Currently stands at 5-foot-10, 140 pounds with a lean, athletic frame. Came in for relief and showed athleticism with a quick arm, using exclusively the fastball that ranged from 78-81 mph, touching 82 with life.
