No. 9 Ryan Schmitt

Ryan SchmittRyan Schmitt (Arrowhead, 2016) comes in as the ninth most viewed profile in Wisconsin. Schmitt features one of the best breaking balls in the state to go along with an upper 80s fastball. In the 2015 calendar year, Schmitt committed to Western Kentucky, decommitted, and later committed to Illinois. His profile received the most activity following his commitment to the University of Illinois in late July.

PBR Scouting Report: 6/23/15 - At 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, Schmitt isn’t necessarily a pro prospect, but colleges might want to move quickly on him after he recently de-committed from Western Kentucky. Schmitt threw arguably the best swing-and-miss breaking ball at the event, a tight 77-79 mph hammer with late, sharp two-plane break. Schmitt complemented his curveball with an 88-90 mph running fastball, and also mixed in an 80-82 changeup. Mechanically, Schmitt isn’t clean and easy, as he has a stab on the backside with effort in the delivery, but he has a highly competitive demeanor on the mound, a quick arm and, above all, throws strikes.
