Uncommitted Senior Spotlight: OF Dalton Damon

Here at the start of the New Year, we’re going to be spending some time highlighting the best of the state’s uncommitted senior class.

Fellow uncommitted seniors in Wisconsin are welcome to attend our first showcase of 2020 on Saturday, Jan. 25, in Kenosha. Registration information can be found here.

Dalton Damon (Burlington) is a strong 6-foot athlete with steady tools across the board. His right-handed bat works off a compact, level plane to produce low-lying line-drive contact, worked toward the middle of the field. Defensively, he moves well with natural actions and tools that might fit best in a corner spot. Damon has the tools to contribute at the next stage, it just remains to be seen where that is.

Hit: RHH. Open and balanced setup, short stride. Raises hands back into load.  Short and level swing path to the baseball. Line drive tendencies, consistent middle of the field contact.
Power: 88 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. OF - 82 mph. Long arm action, plunge draw out the glove. Releases from an over the top arm angle. Throws have carry on them.
Defense: Feet stay active, fields the ball out front on his glove side. Clean exchange.
Run: 7.24 runner in the 60.

Body: 6-foot-0, 180-pounds. Present strength.
Run: 7.19 runner in the 60. Strong runner.
Hit: RHH. Balanced stance, crouched setup, short stride. Path is level, flat through contact, above average bat speed.
Power: 89 mph exit velocity from the tee. Some bat strength.
Arm: RH. OF - 85 mph. Long over the top slot, showed carry.
Defense: Natural actions, footwork is fluid and plays with bounce, quick clean exchange, works through the baseball. Crowhop actions through the baseball.

6-foot, 170-pound outfielder and pitcher, athletic build. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, short stride. Simple, compact swing that flashed bat speed, short path, consistent hard, line drive contact; 86 mph exit velocity from tee. Defensively, fluid, athletic footwork, efficient exchange. Long arm action, ¾ slot; 83 mph from outfield. Right-handed thrower, tall and fall delivery, some rhythm, lands closed. Over-the-top arm slot, clean, repeatable action. Fastball, flashed run, ranged between 75-79 mph. Curveball, 12/6 action, occasionally sharp with depth, 66-70 mph. Changeup, some fade, 67-69 mph.

5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitting RHP/OF. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a short arm action. Tall and fall, online delivery with a square landing and athletic finish. Fastball flashed cutting action at 71-72 mph. Curveball has 12-6 shape and occasionally flashed depth at 64-66 mph. Changeup has downer action 65-67 mph. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride and fair balance. Short, level swing path. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. 4.50 runner down the line. Defensively has a short arm action from a high ¾ slot. Accurate throws, throwing 75 mph from the outfield. Plays thru the ball with quick, fluid footwork and a clean exchange.
