Opening the state’s summer showcase season, the Underclass Trials return to The Rock Sports Complex in Franklin. There are over 40 Wisconsin prospects set to attend the June 20 showcase. Participants range from the 2020 through 2022 classes and flood in from around the state, with a pair of attendees from neighboring Illinois.

Last year’s event featured a pair of participants who earned invites to Prep Baseball Report invite-only events. Of the two, 1B/3B Tyler Brandenburg (Lake Country Lutheran) earned an invitation to the Future Games in Indianapolis last August. C/1B Thomas Otto (Appleton North) was welcomed to the IL/WI Underclass Games after his performance at the Trials.

LHP Riley Frey (Oshkosh West), ranked No. 34 in the 2020 class, is also set to be in attendance. Frey flashes a low-80s fastball, sitting in the 79-81 mph range. The 6-foot-1 lefty ranks No. 6 at his position and carries a ton of upside.

C/SS Anthony Vivian (Dodgeville) and C/RHP Josh Caron (Sun Prairie) both showed well at the Madison Preseason I.D. and their performances bolstered their status as two of the top 10 2021s from the Wisconsin event. Vivian and Caron are confirmed to participate on Wednesday in Franklin.
