Unsigned Senior Spotlight: LHP Trent Ehlers

By Andy Sroka
Staff Writer

The winter's showcase season is right around the corner, slated to kick off this Sunday, Jan. 13, at The MAX in McCook, Ill., with the Unsigned Senior Showcase. The first PBR Wisconsin showcase of 2019 is coming to Kenosha on Jan. 26. The previous hyperlinks should direct you to registration information for both events.

Standing at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, Trent Ehlers, the lefty from Sturgeon Bay, gave our staff the opportunity to see him pitch a couple of times in 2018. First, at the Milwaukee Preseason I.D. back in February, Ehlers showed off loose, over-the-top arm action with a straight fastball that jumped through the zone. His offspeed was rusty at the event but when he got into midseason form, Ehlers looked the part of a prospect who could contribute to a staff at the next level. At our Top Prospect - Milwaukee showcase, he touched 85 mph and demonstrated better command of his curveball, which could be an outpitch for him as he progresses.

We'll be keeping an eye on the former 2017 PBR Future Games prospect as he enters the final spring of his prep career still on the market.
