Unsigned Senior Spotlight: OF Cody Tostrud

Staff Writer

On Sept. 23, our staff hosted Senior Games at Kapco Park in Mequon, Wis., an invite-only showcase for the area’s top uncommitted seniors. We’ve already published the event’s Statistical Analysis, and we’ll have position-by-position breakdowns a little further down the road. Until then, check out some of the showcase’s top unsigned prospects who merit mentioning over the next couple of weeks within this spotlight.

In the last two editions of Wisconsin’s class of 2019 rankings, OF Cody Tostrud (Bradford) has continued to climb further up the board to where he sits today, within the top 50. His status as an uncommitted outfielder, ranked in the top 10 at his position, makes him one of the most compelling next-level senior targets in the state. He’s starred in the Bradford outfield since he was just a freshman and has the speed to potentially occupy center field at the next level. In Mequon, Tostrud was the only prospect to run a sub-7.00 (6.94) in the 60-yard dash and it played on the basepaths in the simulated game where he stole a couple bags. The athletic left/left outfielder uses a simple, short stroke to spray line drives to all fields but has an up-the-middle approach.

With the athleticism to play a dependable outfield, the contact-oriented bat from the left side, and the speed that plays both on the defense and on the bases, Tostrud is among the top outfield prospects remaining on Wisconsin’s 2019 market.
