Friday, April 12

La Follete 8, Sun Prairie 7

The Sun Prairie Cardinals won the hit battle 11-8 on Friday, but couldn't push enough runs across to get the win, losing 8-7 in seven innings to La Follette at Summit Credit Union Field.

Connor Funnell reached base four times in the game for Sun Prairie. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the second inning.

The Cardinals ended up leaving 12 runners stranded on base.

Mack Arnold got the win in relief for La Follette. Arnold pitched one inning and allowed one run.

La Follette was sparked by Riley Anderson and Derek Horne, who teamed up for four hits, four RBI and four runs scored.

Anderson racked up two RBIs on three hits for La Follette Lancers Varsity. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Carter Brekke added three hits for the Cardinals in their losing effort.

Saturday, April 13

Marshall 2, Deerfield 1

The Marshall Cardinals didn't give Tony Dominguez much support, but he got it done without it. Dominguez pitched seven strong innings to carry the Marshall Cardinals Varsity to a 2-1 win over Deerfield in seven innings on Saturday.

The Cardinals staved off Deerfield as they were unable to overcome the early two runs the Cardinals put up in the first.

Deerfield scored one run in the fourth on an RBI single by Brandon Ehrke. Despite its efforts, that’s all Deerfield could muster.

Austin Martinez went a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish for Marshall. He singled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.

Tony Dominguez went the distance for the Cardinals, scattering five hits and one run, striking out four to pick up the win.

Antioch (IL) 10, Westosha Central 3

Despite Travis Knudsvig's 3-for-4 performance at the plate on Saturday, Westosha Central took a 10-3 loss at the hands of Antioch.

Antioch never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on an error and an RBI single by Dejong.

One run in the top of the second helped Westosha Central close its deficit to 2-1. An RBI single by Troy Ladd sparked the Falcons rally.

After pushing across two runs in the top of the fifth, Westosha Central Falcons Varsity faced just a 8-3 deficit. An RBI single by Marshall Gilbert and an RBI single by Brooks Gahart triggered the Falcons comeback. That was all the Falcons would score losing 10-3.

East Troy 8, Whitewater 5

East Troy’s five run fifth holds up to beat Whitewater 8-5 on Sturday.

The Trojan lineup pounded Whitewater pitching, as six hitters combined for 13 hits, seven RBIs and four runs scored.

The Trojans went up for good in the third, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Connor Mitchell and an RBI single by Troy Ambrose.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fourth, Whitewater faced just a 2-1 deficit.

East Troy rallied in the fifth adding five more runs to put the game out of reach for Whitewater. The inning got off to a hot start when Evan Wick doubled, plating Mitchell and Josh Oswald.

A four-run sixth inning helped bring Whitewater within two but couldn’t get any closer losing by a final score of 8-5.

Whitewater 7, East Troy 2

Whitewater pitching held East Troy at bay surrendering just two hits over seven innings. Junior Scott Gorsuch and senior Dan Schumacher combined to strike out nine allowing two runs on five walks.

Gorsuch got the win for Whitewater. He allowed one run over five innings. Gorsuch struck out eight, walked three and gave up one hit.

LaFollete 6, Janesville Craig 3

Luke Lanzendorf went 2-4, helping La Follette Lancers to a 6-3 victory over Janesville Craig on Saturday.

He singled in the first and third innings, driving in two RBI and scoring a run.

Mack Arnold got the win for the Lancers. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Arnold struck out one, walked six and gave up four hits.

La Follette jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Riley Anderson kicked things off for La Follette with a double. A single by Fernando Espinosa then moved Anderson from second to third. Lanzendorf singled, plating Anderson. More runs came home for La Follette when Espinosa scored on an RBI single by Jerrod Matthews.

The Cougars matched the Lancers effort and put up two runs of its own in the first. Janesville Craig scored on a passed ball and a groundout by Brandon Hughes.

La Follette Lancers Varsity never trailed after scoring four runs in the third on three singles and a bases loaded walk by Hughes.

Luxemburg-Casco 5, Union Grove 3

Luxemburg-Casco’s seventh inning rally put the Spartans on top as Union Grove was unable to muster a comeback, losing 5-3 in seven innings on Saturday.

Caleb Willems recorded the win for Luxemburg-Casco. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Willems struck out eight, walked none and gave up eight hits.

Luxemburg-Casco jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Union Grove Broncos Varsity tied the game in the sixth on an RBI single by Ryan Maier that scored Matt Kupper.

Luxemburg-Casco rallied scoring three runs in the seventh on a clutch three-run home run by junior outfielder Cole Kirchman.

Union Grove 4, Luxemburg-Casco 2

An impressive two-way performance from Ben Miller led Union Grove to a 4-2 win Saturday over Luxemburg-Casco, as Miller came up huge at the dish and on the hill.

Miller racked up two RBI on one hit for Union Grove Broncos Varsity. He singled in the first inning.

Miller looked sharp on the mound. Luxemburg-Casco managed just one hit off of the Bronco’s pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out nine during his five innings of work.

Caleb Willems drove in both Spartan runs and went 1-for-3 on the day.

Aquinas 3, Pacelli 0

An ace performance by Rudy Rott spurred the Blugold to a 3-0 win in seven innings over Stevens Point Pacelli on Saturday at Stevens Point.

Blugold's Rott kept Pacelli off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out nine.

Chris Cavidini racked up two RBI on two hits for Blugold. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Aquinas 6, Pacelli 5

La Crosse Aquinas and Stevens Point Pacelli volleyed the lead four times on Saturday, but the Blugold came out on top for a 6-5 win in game two of a double header.

The Blugold pulled out the win thanks to a clutch seventh inning comeback. Down to their final out with the bases empty it looked bleek for the Blugold. After back to back doubles by Kieran Gordan and Alex Dee, La Crosse Aquinas worked three consecutive walks.

Jon Wilson came up with the bases loaded and singled to left to drive in the game winning run.

Alex Dee racked up three RBI on three hits for the Blugold. He singled in the first and sixth innings and doubled in the seventh inning.
