West Milwaukee Preseason I.D.: Blast Motion Board

By Andy Sroka
Illinois and Wisconsin Assistant Director

On Feb. 21, the PBR Wisconsin team hosted its second event of 2021, the West Milwaukee Preseason I.D., at STiKS Academy in Waukesha, Wis. This was an open event for all high school classes (2021-24), and gave our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

If you missed us in Waukesha, check out our showcase page to see when we’re in the neighborhood next.

On Monday, we published our biggest takeaways and highlights from Sunday’s showcase within our Quick Hits story. Tuesday, we started to analyze the statistical side of things, and we published the leaderboards from the traditional stats gathered here. On Thursday, with the help of our TrackMan unit, we dove a little deeper into the data to see what we could find.

And finally, today, we're assessing the Blast Motion data captured by the sensor worn by players during their round of batting practice. Check out the leaderboards below.

10 Michael Kleinhans WI West Bend West 2022 SS 17.8 g

Body Rotation: A swing that has the appropriate relative contributions of body and bat rotations is an efficient and Powerful swing that maintains proper sequencing. An efficient baseball swing is one in which the body creates the initial movements, which is then transferred to the arms and out to the bat, thereby maximizing Bat Speed through this proximal-to-distal kinematic sequencing movement pattern.

ON-PLANE EFFICIENCY PERCENTAGE

On-Plane Efficiency: This metric measures the percentage of your swing that the sweet spot of the bat is considered to be On Plane. The reference plane is defined at the moment of impact. The percentage of your swing On Plane is determined by the amount of speed generated within that reference plane.
