West Milwaukee Preseason I.D.: Pitcher Analysis

Wisconsin Scouting Staff

The PBR Wisconsin staff traveled to Waukesha on Feb. 17 for the West Milwaukee Preseason ID. The event hosted 90+ prospects from The Badger State and provided a surplus of talent to recap and track throughout the WIAA season.

If you missed the rapid reaction from the event, here’s what you missed: Quick Hits and the Statistical Analysis. This week, we released the positional analysis for catchers, infielders and outfielders.

In Pt. IV of our position analysis, we bring you the guys on the bump. Instead of ranking the top overall, we ranked the arms by class. The 2022s held themselves well on the big stage with multiple guys at or around 80 mph. Familiar names that you’ll see listed in our state rankings headlined the 2020 class like Gavin Hinckley (2020; uncommitted) and Chris Byhre (2020; uncommitted). Byhre showed an electric fastball and was one of the big winners and risers - he’s no stranger to bringing impressive stuff to the hill.

Drew Stippich (2021; uncommitted) was another riser after showing a jump in velo. The improvement from 78-81 mph to 87-88 mph opened a number of eyes. His changeup and curveball have also showed vast improvement. He’s an athletic pitcher and pounds the zone.

Carson Fluno (2020; uncommitted) has improved since we last saw him. He’s now sitting 86-87 with a firm slider.

Brody Cypert (2020; uncommitted) and Alex Hayes (2021; uncommitted) played well on the hill, too, as Cypert was a few ticks higher on the FB since last seeing him. Hayes has a hard shape curveball and a firm changeup to compliment a mid-80’s FB.
