Western Wisconsin Open: Outfield Analysis

The Western Wisconsin Open took place on Monday July 10th at Carson Park in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Today we continue the analysis with scouting reports on the outfielders. At the end of the week we will roll out the top position players and pitchers from the event.

Scouting Reports (Listed Alphabetically)

Justin Baehler, C/OF, Mineral Point, 2020
5-foot-10, 185-pound right-handed hitting C/OF. At the plate hits from a slightly open setup with an arm bar load and average balance.. Opposite field hitter with a long swing path. 86 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.75. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Throws showed carry from the crouch. Popped 2.25-2.30 and threw 71 mph from the crouch. Threw 76 mph from the outfield.

Tyler Kilboten, OF, Durand, 2018
5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitting outfielder with a lanky frame. Defensively has a long, loose arm action from an over the top slot. Athletic actions, plays thru the ball with quick footwork. Threw showed carry throwing 80 mph from the outfield. Aggressive routes in the outfield. At the plate hits from a tall setup with  a short stride and average balance. Line drive hitter with fluid rhythm. 81 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.31.

Mikey Kirkbride, C/OF, Pewaukee, 2018
5-foot-10, 170-pound right-handed hitting C/OF. At the plate hits from a balanced, slightly open setup. Leg lift stride with average balance. Long, level swing path. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.52. Defensively has a short arm action from an over the top slot. Popped 2.36-2.51 and threw 68 mph from the crouch. Also took drills in the outfield and threw 73 mph.

Jaxon Kostka, OF, Eau Claire Regis, 2018
5-foot-11, 175-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Throws showed carry at 81 mph from the outfield. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a short stride. Uphill swing path, looks to lift. 85 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.46.

Isaac Marley, LHP/OF, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau, 2019
5-foot-8, 135-pound left-handed hitting LHP/OF. On the mound works from a high ¾ arm angle with a long arm action. Drop and drive delivery with regular effort. Works in line with home plate. Fastball sat 71-72 topping out at 73 mph. Curveball has 1-7 shape with loose rotation at 63-65 mph. Changeup blends with slider at 66-71 mph. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a leg lift stride and average balance. Line drive hitter with an uphill swing path. 74 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.40. Defensively has a long arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with a long, slow exchange. Threw 71 mph from the outfield.

Kas Palzkill, OF, Eau Claire Memorial, 2018
5-foot-10, 150-pound right-handed hitting outfielder. Defensively has  along arm action from an over the top slot. Throws showed carry from the outfield at 78 mph. Plays thru the ball wit a quick exchange. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a toe tap stride and average balance. Line drive hitter with a level swing path. 83 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.12.

Zack Thiesse, OF/RHP, Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau, 2018
6-foot-2, 160-pound right-handed hitting OF/RHP. At the plate hits from a tall, narrow setup with a short stride and uphill swing path. 74 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.70. Defensively has a long arm action from a ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with fluid footwork. Threw 59 mph from the outfield. On the mound works from a high ¾ slot with a short arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Slide step delivery from the stretch. Fastball sat 70-72 topping out at 73 mph. Curveball has gradual action at 55-59 mph. Changeup has running action at 66-69 mph.

Reese Vold, OF/RHP/SS, Black River Falls, 2018
5-foot-11, 155-pound right-handed hitting utility player. At the plate hits from a balanced setup with a leg kick stride and good balance. Long, uphill swing path with fluid rhythm. 79 mph exit velocity from a tee. Ran the 60 at 7.17. Defensively took drills in the outfield and infield. Long, loose arm action from a high ¾ slot. Plays thru the ball with a long exchange. Threw 78 mph from the outfield and 77 mph across the infield. On the mound works from a high ¾ slot with a long arm action. Tall and fall delivery working in line with home plate. Fastball sat 78 topping out at 80 mph. Curveball has 11-5 shape at 65-67 mph. Maintains arm speed on changeup with sinking action at 71-74 mph.
