Wisconsin Senior Games: All Prospect Analysis

By Andy Sroka
Illinois and Wisconsin Assistant Director

On Sept. 20, the PBR Wisconsin team gathered at the brand new, state-of-the-art Milwaukee School of Engineering facility in Glendale to host its annual Senior Games event. Some of the best uncommitted prospects in the state’s 2021 class met for this event to perform at a showcase and play against one another in a simulated game.

We published some post-event analysis in the days following the event, inside our Quick Hits and Statistical Analysis posts. Today, we’re concluding our showcase analysis by publishing the scouting reports on each of the players who made it out to participate in this invite-only event.

Eight of the players in attendance have since committed already, and counting. Among those who remain uncommitted, yet still contain some upside: 3B Adam Bretsch (Marquette University) and LHP Mitch Fassbender (Wauwatosa West). Bretsch has a combo of strength and athleticism worth mentioning here, as a 6.84 runner who also hits the ball hard from the right side. As for Fassbender, he’s a funky left-hander with a low release that helps him generate some big sinking action on the fastball, and he has the feel for a curve and change to round out a projectable arsenal.

A couple more players really popped up at this event to capitalize on their PBR event debuts: Ben Johnson (New Berlin West) and Ethan Sawyer (Germantown). Johnson, still uncommitted, may be a little raw but he has an enticing toolkit, fit with serious bat speed and strength from the right side, in addition to some upside to refine on the infield. Sawyer parlayed a productive summer into a good showing here, and eventually a commitment to Upper Iowa just last week.

For reports on each of the prospects who made it out, check out the reports below, as there are still plenty of talented, uncommitted athletes within the state’s 2021 class.
