Wisconsin making impact on 2015 Overall Rankings

By Steve Nielsen
Scouting Supervisor – Wisconsin/Illinois

The 2015 overall rankings were updated this week and Wisconsin again continued to add players to te overall ranks. Eight additional Wisconsin prospects were added this update including Ty Ramirez (Greendale), Alex Hintze (Oshkosh North), Simon Rosenblum-Larson (Madison West), Jonathan Stiever (Cedarburg), Trevor Cho (Homestead), Nick Schrader (Jefferson), Joe Baier (Bay Port) and Tanner Umentum (Denmark).

Ty Ramirez wowed the more than 100 college coaches at the Top Prospect Showcase in June sitting 88-90 mph with a biting breaking ball. He has been leading Greendale to a 27-3 record this summer and is 8-0 on the mound in 46 innings, heading into the playoffs.

Simon Rosenblum-Larson is also a hot name in the Badger state. Reports have Rosenblum-Larson’s fastball in the mid to upper 80’s this summer and one of the cleanest arm actions around with plus potential secondary offerings.

Pete Schuler (Kenosha St. Joseph) remains the top Wisconsin prospect and jumped four spots to No. 18 overall. LHP Connor Wollersheim (Appleton North) made the biggest leap this update as he has made his first appearance back from a year’s recovery of Tommy John surgery. Wollersheim rose nearly 100 spots after his showing at the Top Prospect Showcase as his fastball is back to 83-85 with feel for three pitches.
