The 2025 Wisconsin high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across the Badger State.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in their respective WIAA Division State Championship, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams with this initial Preseason Power 25 release which will take us right up to first pitch.

X-FACTOR
RHP/INF Greyson Zach (2025, Minnesota) returns as a co-ace to the pitching staff, while manning a spot in the middle-of-the-order for the Pirates. One of the top athletes in the state, with an immense ceiling on the mound. Filling the zone with his entire arsenal featuring a fastball that has reached 90 mph.
The senior pitched to a 1.52 ERA across 60 innings while providing the lineup with run production, batting .352 and driving in 22 runs last spring.
TEAM OUTLOOK

The Pirates bring back a roster full of depth and experience on both sides of the ball. The staff returns the aforementioned Zach, joining him at the top of the rotation is RHP/INF Owen Dobberstein (2025, Evangel University).
Dobberstein is one of the top returning performers in the state, the junior struck out 89 batters across 53.2 innings pitching to a 2.09 ERA. ultra competitive demeanor while filling up the zone with two pitches.
Running his fastball into the upper-80s in the past, with innate feel to late a sharp breaking ball, a pitch that plays like a true swing and miss weapons when used.
RHP Braden Selsor (2025) and OF/RHP Logan Peterson (2027) are quality options for the Pirates out of the ‘pen.
Returning to the mound this season OF/RHP Drew Dobberstein (2025, Evangel University), a capable arm when our staff last saw him, if he regains feel on the mound that adds another capable arm to this staff.
Athletes are featured throughout the lineup, including the previously mentioned Zach and both Drew and Owen Dobberstein at the top entering their fourth season on varsity. All will be relied on to help drive the run production, all three players return as First Team All-Conference players from last year.
Drew Dobberstein will likely serve as the teams leadoff hitter, and patrol centerfield for his fourth season.
Rounding off the group of seniors is four-year player C Jackson Servais (2025) who will slide in right behind the previously mentioned trio.
Servais is a more than serviceable right-handed bat, the senior catcher hit .352 on the season while being named to his second Second Team All-Conference selection.
A pair of seniors, INF Brody Carlson (2025) and UTL Landon Witek (2025) provide depth and extend the lineup of capable bats.
A pair of sophomores that hit the ground running as freshman return in INF Cayden Burtness (2027) and the aforementioned Peterson.
Peterson is an athletic outfielder with the capability to play all three spots, giving the Pirates two quality defenders to rely on in the outfield. The bat also plays, from the right-side Peterson finished the year with a .282 average while also being named Second Team All-Conference.
Burtness hit .326 as a freshman on varsity and is an advanced defender to pair with the offensive impact, entering the year with more experience, the sophomore could see an expanded role.
Rounding off the offense is OF Duke Medina (2026), INF Drew Van Domelen (2026) and INF Peter Thombs (2025), with a group of freshman in OF Hudson Bremberger (2028), OF Brooks Dobberstein (2028), RHP JonDavid Jacobs (2028) and INF Colton Wall (2028) that could make their way up and impact the team this season.
BOTTOM LINE
The Pirates enter the spring the top Division 2 team, with key returners throughout the roster including a deep pitching staff with two ace caliber pitchers at the top. The lineup is equally as deep with standout defenders throughout adding to the different ways they can win.
