X-FACTOR

RHP/CF Jaxon Clayton (2025, BYU) has the potential to be one of the top players in the state heading into his senior season. The 6-foot-1 athlete has been atop of the pitching staff and has been playing somewhere up the middle for multiple seasons now. On the mound the stuff plays up, four-pitch mix with a low-90s fastball and feel to spin to distinct breaking balls and a firm changeup. At the plate, Clayton swings an athletic RH bat flashing the ability to barrel the ball with authority. Putting everything together as a senior and establishing himself as one of the top performers in the state would add another element to this Lancers squad.

NEWCOMER TO WATCH

RHP/OF Taylor Rampetsreiter (2027) enters the spring an arrow-up sophomore after his performance this winter. The athletic 6-foot-2, 172 pound right-right athlete has the chance to be another impactful arm for the Lancers. The athletic right-hander offers an upside look with an advanced three pitch mix from a low slot. The fastball reaches the upper-80s with heavy and big sinking action to pair with two advanced secondaries. Any sort of feel for the zone with this arsenal will give the Lancers a very capable arm this season.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Lancers are coming off a 14-14 year where many of their underclassmen were thrown into key roles throughout the season. With a more experienced and talented team this spring, especially on the mound, the Lancers will look to build on the previous season.

The returning talent on the mound stands out, returning at the top of the rotation is the aforementioned Clayton but also LHP Colton Semmelmann (2026, South Carolina) and RHP Vince Bitter (2026, Illinois State).

Semmelmann broke out last year as one of the top left-handers in the WIAA, and has seemingly leveled up this offseason, ticking up in nearly every metric across the board. Also a history of strikes and performing in big moments, giving the Lancers a true ace.

Bitter was another underclassmen that broke out on this Lancer squad last year. The right-hander has flashed the ability to fill the zone with three pitches, with two secondaries that can be potential weapons in game.

The depth continues beyond their top three arms with right handers Sean Beug-Hoffman (2025, Wisconsin-Whitewater), Keton Elmer (2026) and the aforementioned Rampetsreiter.

Returning to the lineup MIF Braylan Bigler (2025, Upper Iowa) will be an impact defender at top of the order bat for the Lancers. One of the top players in the conference that was recognized as a First Team All-Conference player as a junior, Bigler has historically been a tough out with bat-to-ball skills showing up in game adding to his value.

Another key piece to the lineup is the aforementioned Bitter, one of the top performing bats from last season as a sophomore and brings power to the lineup.

Junior infielder Peyton Lenell (2026) has a chance to step in and and add depth to the lineup behind Bigler, Bitter and the aforementioned Clayton. The right-handed hitter has impressed this winter in front of our staff and returns with more experience under his belt.

Adding to their line up are infielders Alex Ignacio (2025) Brady Mohns (2026) and Nolan Monosso (2026).

Ignacio is a senior that can play multiple positions on the diamond, while Mohns and Monosso are a pair of physical bats that can provide some power to this lineup.

BOTTOM LINE

The Lancers have an impressive group of arms atop their pitching staff, with depth behind them to support it. With their top bats returning with more experience paired with some talented bats looking to prove themselves on the varsity level. The Lancers could be a surprise team this spring.
