X-FACTOR

SS Jack Lutz (2025, South Florida) one of the top players in the state, and an asset at the top of the order and at shortstop. A standout athlete with an easy left-handed swing and a history of production. Effortless contact and overall hitterish look to go with an advanced approach, the hit tool stands out for the class. Defensively few in the state, can match the actions and quality of play at shortstop, looking every bit like a shortstop at the next level. He will also be relied on out of the bullpen to close out games as he collected two saves last spring.

NEWCOMER(S) TO WATCH

RHP/INF Lucas Weber (2027) and INF/RHP Corey Gast (2028) have a chance to make an impact on the roster. Weber is a 5-foot-8 right-hander with feel for a three pitch mix that he lands in the zone and could have an impact on either side of the ball. Gast is a projectable 6-foot-1 two-way athlete that has performed in front of our staff in the past and has a chance to work onto this squad at some point this spring.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Falcons return a lot of experience from their 19-9 season. In the lineup, the aforementioned Lutz looks to lead this team along with four-year starter C AJ Clark (2025, Wisconsin-La Crosse). Clark has been named First Team All-Conference the previous three seasons and has true catch-and-throw ability to pair with being a more than capable bat at the plate after batting .409 last season.

In total, 13 players return with varsity experience, 11 of them with at least two years under their belt. Other pieces filling out their lineup include seniors RHP/INF Nate Kasten (2025, Bryant & Stratton), LHP/OF Jake Rechlitz (2025) and C Matthew Koo (2025) along with juniors RHP/OF Luke Parkinson (2026) and RHP/OF Tanner Effertz (2026)

Kasten returns with some power, hitting six doubles and two home runs while slashing .380/.467/.557. Rechlitz was another contributor that hit near .400 on the year, slashing .392/.436/.549 on the season giving the Falcons a deep lineup overall.

On the mound Rechlitz and Kasten look to receive the lionshare of time on the mound. With options like Lutz, Parkinson and Effertz out of the pen.

Effertz is a potential arm that could help the Falcons in a big way if his offseason games translate over in game. The right-hander broke out as one of the top right-handers in the area with high octane stuff. Flashing an improved ability to be around the zone.

Parkinson is another athletic right-hander with a budding pitch mix that could help provide depth to this pitching staff.

RHP Alex Meyer (2026) is another potential option on the mound for the Falcons, the 6-foot-5 right-hander offers an intriguing look from a lower slot.

BOTTOM LINE

The majority of the Falcons roster will have two plus years of varsity experience, including a number of multi-time All-Conference players. The senior talent paired provides the Falcons with a high floor and the depth of varsity experience is not something that many teams in the WIAA can match.
