PLAYERS-TO-WATCH
+ RHP Tyson Grulkowski (Muskego)
Imposing 6-foot-5, 218-pound frame, was set to join Team Wisconsin down at the Future Games this past summer before an untimely injury took him out of the event. Known for possessing one of the state’s best breaking balls, an upper-70s sweeping slider that he has feel to command throughout the zone. The combination of action and command make it one of the state’s toughest pitches for opposing batters, especially in any two-strike count. The fastball plays in the mid-80s T87 mph with life out of the hand and feel for the zone. It plays up beyond its velo due to Grulkowski’s ability to get down the mound, getting above-average extension at 6.6 feet and delivering the baseball from a slightly lower release height at 5.7 feet. Grulkowski has shown a heavy fading changeup at times, having success when using it, working in the low-80s. A workhorse frame on the mound, strikes and one of the best breaking balls in the state, the ceiling is high for the right-hander.
+ RHP Cail Geiger (Menomonee Falls)
Standing at 5-foot-11, 187-pounds Geiger was another righty that was set to pitch for Team Wisconsin at the Future Games before an untimely injury. When healthy Geiger showed an electric two-pitch mix, an upper-80s fastball T90 mph that he threw for strikes. Paired with a big breaking ball in the upper-70s that he has immense confidence in. An athlete on the mound with a clean arm, Geiger still has some room for growth as he matures.
+ RHP Cade Minatto (Indian Trail)
Stands at 6-foot, 180-pounds, spent the majority of 2024 recovering from injury, yet remains as one of the top players in the state. Healthy, Minatto has one of the higher ceilings in the state on the mound. Feel to pitch and strikes with two pitches, a mid-80s fastball T87 mph and a low-70s two plane curveball. Minatto is a name our staff is eager to see once healthy either on the winter circuit or later next spring.
+ RHP/INF Sam Wells (Brookfield East)
Is an intriguing two-way prospect with intrigue on both sides of the ball. On the mound Wells shows clear arm talent from the right-side, running his fastball up to 87 mph with life out of the hand that he’s shown feel to throw in the zone. His curveball sits in the upper-70s with late break, getting S/M in game. Wells also throws a cutter in the low-80s that he throws in the zone often. At the plate, Wells takes a direct path to the baseball, staying in the zone a long time showing feel for the barrel. Defensively Wells has enough arm strength to stick on the left-side of the infield and projects as a capable defender at third.
RISERS
+ INF/RHP Jace Mataczynski (Hudson)
Is an athletic 6-foot-3, 180-pounds infielder with arm talent. Defensively from the left-side Mataczynski is a rangy and athletic defender with soft hands and an athletic arm that plays with carry and accuracy from multiple slots and on the move. At the plate from the right-side, Mataczynski takes a direct and flat path to the baseball, staying in the zone a long time. On the mound, which is relatively new to Mataczynski, is a high-ceiling arm with a chance to breakout in a big way this winter and spring. A carry fastball that has been up to 88.8 mph from a 4.9 release height with 18 inches of IVB on average. The secondaries are still developing but offer a lot of intrigue, two breaking balls the first is a upper-60s curveball with slurvy action, his slider plays in the low-70s with sharp break. The changeup works in the mid-70s with heavy running action. Mataczynski is an intriguing prospect on both sides of the baseball with a high-ceiling.
+ OF Jimmy Angle (Kettle Moraine)
Strong 6-foot, 188-pound corner outfielder that swings a heavy barrel. From the right-side, Angle stays compact through impact with feel to elevate the baseball especially to the pull side. Defensively, Angle is a capable defender at either corner outfield spot with range that’s aided by his speed, a 6.94 runner that translates in game, as well as taking efficient routes through the baseball with arm strength up to 88 mph. Angle is a corner outfielder that should continue to harness and tap into more power in game as he continues to mature physically.
+ RHP Callen Tomsyck (Muskego)
Stands at 5-foot-10, 156-pounds with wiry strength to his frame, and more room to add physically. A two-way with arm talent, on the mound Tomsyck routinely runs his fastball up to the upper-80s with life out of the hand. His go-to secondary is his upper-70s slider that plays with tight breaking action that he throws for strikes. Also has a fading changeup that sits in the upper-70s that is still developing. At the plate, from the right-side Tomsyck has shown feel to hit in game, spraying the baseball to the entire field. Defensively Tomsyck is an athletic defender in the outfielder.
+ OF Niko Frangopoulos (Arrowhead)
Is a projectable left-handed hitting outfielder standing at 5-foot-11, 170-pounds. At the plate, Frangopoulos swings a smooth and rhythmic barrel with feel to elevate the baseball with feel to hit in game. Showing both the ability to hit for average and impact the baseball more as the year went on. Defensively the corner outfielder is a steady defender with an accurate arm up to 85 mph. It’s a bat first profile for the left-hander with more intrigue as he continues to develop physically.
