Team: Philip Barbour
Nickname:
Colts
Class:
2A
League:
Big Ten
Head Coach: Jonathon Carpenter
2013 Overall Record: 14-16 (Lost in regional semifinals)

TOP PLAYERS:

Al Johnson, OF, Class of 2014 (Honorable Mention All-State 2013)
Saige Cline, 2B/OF, Class of 2014 (Honorable Mention Big Ten 2013)
Jacob Marsh, 1B, Class of 2014 (Honorable Mention Big Ten 2013)
Tyler Baldwin, LHP/OF, Class of 2015
Sean Curtis, 2B/OF, Class of 2016

SEASON OUTLOOK:

Doug Smith, Chance Price and Tyler Schiefelbein were major contributors in the Colts' 2013 success. Coach Jonathon Carpenter will have to find replacements if he would like to see Philip Barbour repeat its post season accolades of a year ago. Carpernter, in his second year at the helm of his alma mater, will have a core group of returning players that should make similar success a possibility.

ACCORDING TO THE COACH:

"We won the school's first sectional championship last year since 1998. We graduated seven seniors from last year's team, but hope to have five seniors back to lead this year's team. The Big Ten conference is a very difficult league that prepares your team for sectional tournament play. Expectations remain high for another sectional championship and a deep run into regional play."
