As we prepare for the upcoming 2015 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

Team: Washington
Nickname:
Patriots
Class:
3A
League:
Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference
Head Coach: Mark Hash
2014 Overall Record: 25-5 (lost in state semifinals)

TOP PLAYERS:
Ryan French, RHP/SS, Class of 2015 (5-1, 0.58 ERA in 2014)
Zach Burch, RHP/Util, Class of 2015 (3-0 with 6 saves in 2014)
Texas Cobb, C, Class of 2015 (hit .346 in 2014)
Mark McKee, RHP/3B, Class of 2015 (2-2, 2.39 ERA in 2014)
Robert Cross, RHP/3B, Class of 2016 (2-0, 1.85 ERA, .395 avg. in 2014)

Key Loss:
Jared Silva, RHP (1st Team All-State 2014, now at VMI)

SEASON OUTLOOK:
The Patriots had a banner season (25-5, state semifinals appearance) in 2014 and appear ready to make another run at state gold. The Eastern Panhandle Conference is always one of the top leagues in the state and 2015 should be no different. If the Patriots can make up for the loss of All-State pitcher Jared Silva a run at a section, region and potential state title are all realistic goals.

According to the Coach:
"We return 13 of 17 players and are very excited about our 2015 season. We return our entire pitching staff except for the Jared Silva. We also return seven starters defensively. We will have above average speed and feel that we can make a lot of things happen on the bases. Offensivel we will expect Robert Cross, Texas Cobb, Hunter Weaver and Zac Burch to carry the load. Our kids put a lot of time in the winter months getting ready for the long haul. In my opinion if we can get out of Jefferson County you will have a very good chance of playing for a state title."
