Throughout the West Virginia high school baseball regular season we will be posting a Power 5 in each classification. Updates will be made for Class AAA on Mondays, AA on Tuesdays and A on Wednesdays. Check back frequently at PBR West Virginia to follow team and individual results from the previous week. Today we take a a look at our final Class AA top 5 heading into the playoffs.

BRIDGEPORT

PBR Ranked Players:

Summary:

Bridgeport holds the top spot in our final Power five. However, the Indians, while still the favorite, look to be more vulnerable than in years past headed into the state playoffs. The defending state champions' final ledger stands at a battle tested 20-9. Individual statistics were not available.

WINFIELD

1. Brett Morris, SS/RHP, #14 PBR West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings, Seton Hilll Commit 

2. Aaron Blackwell, C/OF, #54 PBR West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings

Summarry

Winfield, as has been the case recently, had a Jekyl and Hide week going 2-1. The Generals picked up a quality win over Charleston Catholic, but followed it up with a hard to figure loss to Roane County. Winfield sits at an overall 19-5 entering the playoffs. The Peyton's had solid weeks at the plate. Peyton Gillispie recorded three hits in four official at bats, while scoring three times and driving home two runs. Peyton Stover made his three hits hurt by registering five RBI. Landen Fairchild registered the win over Charleston Catholic, going six innings and allowing one earned run.

WAYNE

PBR Ranked Players:

2. Jeremiah Milum, 3B/RHP, #32 PBR West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings

Summary:

Wayne will enter the playoffs coming off a 2-1 week. The loss came at the hands of AAA Spring Valley by a 3-1 count. The hot Pioneer bats belonged to Cayden Ross (5-for-7, 3 R, 6 RBI, HR) and Greyson Pratt (5-for-9, 4 R, 6 RBI, HR). Wyatt Milum continued his solid work on the bump. The left-hander went 5 innings, yielding one earned run and striking out nine, in a win over St. Joseph. 

 

FRANKFORT

PBR Ranked Players:

1. Blake Wasson, RHP/OF, #2 PBR West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings, Kent State Commit

2 .Zack Whitacre, SS/RHP, #11 PBR West Virginia Class of 2019 Rankings 

Summary:

The Falcons will enter the playoffs on a high note after a 4-0 week. Offensive catalysts were Brendan Whiteman (7-for 13, 6 R, 7 RBI, 2 HR) and Blake Wasson (7-for-13, 6 R, 8 RBI). Wasson, Zack Whitacre and Foster Conis all had solid outings on the hill.                                                                   

SCOTT                                                              

PBR Ranked Players:

1. Carter Lyles, RHP/3B, #4 PBR West Virginia Class of 2019 Rankings, West Virginia commit

2. Nathan Kuhn, SS/C, #30 PBR West Virginia Class of 2019 Rankings

Summary:

The Skyhawks have been knocking at the door and finally break through to be included at number five. Scott went 3-1 moving their regular season record to 18-8. Among their wins was a 9-4 defeat of previous number five Nitro. Nathan Kuhn and Cameron Bryant combined for some gaudy offensive numbers (15-for-25, 9 R, 15 RBI, 1 HR). Not to be outdone, Aaron Adkins twirled five perfect innings and struck out eleven in a mercy rule shortened win.
