Shane EnnisRoughly 600 white shirt wearing supporters of the Hampshire Trojans showed up early, most wearing white, and were treated to an 11-1 win by the home team in six innings. The Trojans fell behind 1-0 in the top of the 2nd inning committing two errors. Buckhannon-Upshur's lead was short-lived however as junior Shane Ennis led off the bottom half of the inning with a triple to right field and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Garrett Crawford.

The Trojans added four runs in the 3rd, two runs in the 4th, a single run in the 5th to push the lead to 8-1 moving to the bottom of the 6th inning. Needing three runs to end the game the Trojans went to work and used just four at bats to get the job done. Bucky Timbrook led off with a solo HR to left-center field. With Shane Ennis at third base Matt Maiers sent the large crowd home happy when he lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to end the game via the mercy rule.

Around the Horn

+ Hampshire moves on to play Hedgesville for the region title and a trip to the state tournament on Wednesday.

+ All nine Trojan starters had at least one hit. David Delawder (2-for-3, 2 runs), Bucky Timbrook (2-for-3, BB, HR, 3 runs, RBI) and Shane Ennis (2-for-3, 3B, 2 runs) each had multiple hit games.

+ Potomac State recruit Josh Crawford tossed a complete game four hitter, yielding just one earned run.

+ Fellow Potomac State recruit Dalton Westfall had quality stuff on the mound, but ran into a Hampshire lineup that showed the ability to hit his 86-87 mph fastball consistently and either laid off or fouled off many of the 6-foot-6 senior's best curve balls.

+ Buckannon-Upshur freshman Bryson Fluke served notice that he will be a player to watch in the Class of 2016. The left-handed hitter went 1-for-3 with a single, a line smash at the second baseman and a drive into right center field that was hauled in after a long run by Shane Ennis in the 5th inning.

+ The Trojans will have two quality arms ready to go as they attempt to win a regional title on Wednesday in Maiers and Ennis. Ennis will be showcasing his abilities in the Prep Baseball Report Pennsylvania Top Prospect Games in June at Bucknell University.
