By Greg Williams
WV Director of Scouting

Dustin YoakumDustin Yoakum served notice as a freshman in 2012 that he had the potential to be a college baseball prospect hitting .333 with 11 RBI and 12 runs scored in a limited role at Greenbrier West HS. Although he did not notch his first varsity hit until his 5th game, Yoakum quickly established himself as an everyday starter going 13-for-30 to finish his rookie campaign.

The 5-foot-10, 150-pound junior earned Class A All-State Special Mention recognition following his sophomore season. The talented outfielder, ranked No. 22 in the WV Class of 2015, hit .465 in 2013 with 20 RBI, 29 runs scored and a .518 on base percentage. Yoakum was a perfect 17-for-17 in stolen base attempts and he struck out just six times in 87 total plate appearances.

The three-sport athlete had a successful junior season on the football field (5 TD, 72 tackles) and appears primed for a big season on the diamond this spring. Since taking off the football pads Yoakum has made the move to the wrestling mat. This winter he will look to defend his West Virginia state wrestling title at 132 pounds.
