Preseason All-State Showcase Analysis: C Dylan Foster

By Greg Williams
WV Director of Scouting

Dylan FosterOf the close to 180 prospects to showcase their abilities over two days of the 2015 Preseason All-State Showcase, just four hailed from West Virginia. Today we analyze the talents of the lone catcher in the group, Dylan Foster (Woodrow Wilson HS).

Foster is a physical 5-foot-8, 180-pound right-handed hitter that starts from a square stance. The junior utilizes a lift-and-replace stride and a strong lower half with good balance to create a bat exit velocity of 81 mph. Foster displayed the ability to consistently barrel the baseball and flashed solid feet with a 7.38 60-yard dash. He registered pop times of 2.22-2.38 on throws of 67 mph from the crouch.

Foster has now show well in two PBR events in the past year following a solid performance at the 2014 WV Top Prospect Games in August. The updated WV Class of 2016 rankings are set to be released on Friday and Foster is likely to find himself among the ranked prospects in the state.
