Sophomore Spotlight: 3B/RHP David Delawder

By Greg Williams

DelawderDavid Delawder is making the transition to varsity competition in 2013 and the sophomore 3B/RHP is making it look rather easy through four games. Delawder went hitless in three official trips to the plate in his first varsity start on March 16, but he did manage to draw a walk. He has since followed that up with four hits in his last 10 at bats over the span of three games. Add in a walk and being hit by a pitch twice and Delawder has amassed a .471 on base percentage. He has driven in four runs and has scored twice as well. Delawder's most impressive stat to date is the fact that he has only struck out once in 21 trips to the plate.

Delawder will likely see time on the mound as the season progresses. He currently carries a 0.00 ERA in 2/3 of an inning pitched. Look for the 6-foot, 170-pound Class of 2015 prospect to make an impact as a two-way player over the next three years for the Trojans.
