Sophomore Spotlight: Brady Elkins

Aaron ElkinsGetting to the state tournament championship game is every high school player's dream. Sophomore Brady Elkins realized that dream this past weekend, and while he and his Cabell Midland teammates came up short in a 4-2 championship game loss to Hedgesville, Elkins was one of the most impressive underclassmen in the tournament.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound catcher showcased advanced receiving and blocking skills and pop times ranging from 2.12-2.20 during the course of the tournament. He shined as the top performer at his position among the 12 teams that advanced to Charleston.

Offensively, Elkins squared the baseball consistently, going 2-for-6 with a double and an RBI over the two games his team played. He has a sound approach at the plate with a short swing path to the baseball.

With two years to continue to grow physically, Elkins is a definite follow among catchers in the Class of 2015.
