Game of the Day: St. Albans at Parkersburg

teamPicThumb116117-13913-1ooctnh.jpg (720×830)St. Albans, No. 3 in the most recent Metro News AA Power Rankings, racked up 14 hits and got a complete game from Nick Loftis (currently No. 8 in the WV Class of 2019 rankings) as they marched on toward next week's showdown with Hurricane.  A single by Akili Johnson (currently No.11 in the WV Class of 2018 rankings) gave the Red Dagons a 1-0 lead in the first.  Parkersburg answered in their half of the first on a Kyle Goodwin (currently No. 21 in the WV Class of 2017 rankings) RBI single and a St. Albans miscue to take a 2-1 lead.

Singles by Ridge Lester (currently No. 11 in WV Class of 2019 rankings) and Jacob Carr (currently No.4 in WV Class of 2019 rankings) tied the game at two in the second.  St. Albans took a commanding lead in the third by using four hits to capitalize on some wildness by the Big Reds pitcher.  Lester, Wes Medley, Carr and Connor Fizer (currently No. 18 in WV Class of 2019) all singled resulting in a 6-2 Red Dragon's lead.

Nick LoftisParkersburg picked up a run in the third on a single by Ohio Valley recruit Andrew Herrod scoring Bradley Craig who had singled earlier in the inning.  St Albans then used four hits to put up four more runs in the seventh. Lester, Fizer, Loftis and Johnson all singled for the final 10-3 margin.

Loftis' (pictured right) final line read 7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 9 K and 2 BB.  Multi-hit games included Carr (2-2), Fizer (2-3, 2 RBI), Johnson (3-4, 2 RBI) and Lester (3-4).
