The Hotlist: 2019s To Keep An Eye On

By Nathan Rode and PBR Staff

A new class of prospects is close to its first high school season, as the spring approaches and some freshmen eye a spot on varsity. We haven’t started ranking 2019s yet, but our staff has seen plenty over the last several months. Listed alphabetically below are some 2019 prospects to keep an eye on.

Blake Adams, OF/RHP, Har-Ber HS, AR
Adams has a large, athletic frame at 6-foot-1, 180 pounds. Offensively, he starts from an athletic stance and uses a slight load before attacking pitches with a quick bat. He maintains rhythm and balance through extension, though he would benefit from staying in his lower half long and driving through the baseball with his hips. On defense, he plays through the ball with a clean exchange and makes accurate throws. Adams has advanced stuff on the mound, pitching from a high-3/4 slot with looseness. His fastball sits 83-86 and touches 87. He complements his fastball with a curveball at 74-77 and a changeup at 68-70. Both pitches are thrown with near fastball arm speed.
