Unsigned Senior Spotlight: RHP/3B Brandon Chandler

By Greg Williams
WV Director of Scouting

Uncommitted seniors often begin to get a little uneasy at this point in the early fall. With the early signing period looming in November a general attitude of unrest tends to settle in if the right school has not come calling for them.

Over the coming weeks we will take a look at some unsigned seniors that showed next level ability during their participation in the recent WV Top Prospect Games.

rhp/3b Brandon Chandler (Woodrow WIlson hs)

Brandon ChandlerChandler sat 81-82 out of a high 3/4 arm slot while striking out four in two innings of work a the recent WV Top Prospect Games. The 5-foot-11, 165-pound righty also commanded a 75 mph curveball with 11/5 rotation. The two-way prospect showcased a 77 mph arm across the diamond and ran a 7.87 60-yard dash. The right-handed hitter showed quick hands from a square stance with a bat exit velocity of 82 mph. Chandler went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored at the plate in game action. The uncommitted senior is ranked No. 30 in the WV Class of 2016.

Following the completion of the Fall College Prospect Program unsigned seniors will have an opportunity to stand out on a day set aside for them to display their talent in front of those schools that are still looking to fill their recruiting needs for the fall of 2016.

The 2015 Unsigned Senior Showcase will take place on October 3 at the Keystone State Baseball Academy in Manheim, PA. This event continues to grow in popularity and in its ability to help match available seniors with college programs that have needs. Over the past three years 37 of 57 prospects have gone on to make college commitments with several others attempting to walk on and make college rosters this fall.
