Updated West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings Released

By Greg Williams
West Virginia Director of Scouting

As we move into December and the end of the calendar year draws near, it is time for our final update to our statewide player rankings for 2016. During the course of this month we will look at updates to the rankings in the Class of 2017, 2018 and 2019. Today we concentrate on the Class of 2018.

The top three spots and five of the top ten in this class are currently filled by pitchers. Woodrow Wilson right-hander Michael Maiolo, Liberty-Raleigh lefty Trenton Begley and Independence righty Logan Stump continue to hold down the top three spots. Stump (video below) showed well this past summer at the Western PA Top Prospect Games at Seton Hill University.

While none of these prospects have announced a college commitment to date several have received interest from a number of schools with Maiolo drawing interest recently from a pair of Big Ten programs.

Next week we will take a look at the updated WV Class of 2019 rankings. To view the updated WV Class of 2017 rankings that were released last week click here.
