Throughout the West Virginia high school baseball regular season we will be posting a Power 5 in each classification. Updates will be made for Class AAA on Mondays, AA on Tuesdays and A on Wednesdays. Check back frequently at PBR West Virginia to follow team and individual results from the previous week. Today we take a a look at our Week Two AA top 5.

BRIDGEPORT

PBR Ranked Players:

1. Brayden Lesher, RHP/OF, #20 PBR West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings

2. Timothy Via, 1B/RHP, #24 PBR West Virginia Class of 2019 Rankings

3. Ben Mossburg, C/2B, #18 West Virginia Class of 2020 Rankings 

Summary:

The Indians remain our #1. However, even they can't defeat mother nature. The weather prevented Bridgeport from playing this week. The subsequent condensed schedule will challenge their pitching depth.

CHAPMANVILLE

PBR Ranked Players:

1. None

Summary:

Chapmanville Regional went 2-0 on the week including a big win over previous #2 Winfield. Connor Mullins and Kyle Browning did much of the damage offensively. Mullins was 3-for-6, with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored, while Browning went 3-for-7 with a HR and 4 RBI. On the mound, Mullins was the winner against Winfield with a line of 5 IP, 2 ER, 10 SO. Chase Berry picked up the other win by going five scoreless innings and striking out seven.

WINFIELD

Summarry

The Generals dropped to #3 as a result of their loss to Chapmanville. Winfield's 2-1 week was led by Brett Morris who combined to go 5-for-10, with 6 RBI, 5 R and 2 HR. Peyton Gillispie was solid on the hill, pitching 4.1 innings of scoreless relief.

WAYNE

PBR Ranked Players:

1. Cayden Ross, SS/RHP, #26 PBR West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings

2. Jeremiah Milum, 3B/RHP, #32 PBR West Virginia Class of 2018 Rankings

Summary:

Wayne holds steady at #4. Their senior leader Cayden Ross put together quite a week as the Pioneer's went 2-0. Early in the week Ross dominated previous #5 Logan from the mound by striking out 10 in a 2-hit complete game shutout. He then went 4-for-4 with a HR, 4 RBI and 2 runs scored in a 10-4 win over Scott.

FRANKFORT

PBR Ranked Players:

2 .Zack Whitacre, SS/RHP, #11 PBR West Virginia Class of 2019 Rankings 

Summary:

Frankfort replaces Logan at #5 on the strength of a 4-1 week. The lone defeat came 6-5 to Maryland's Grace Academy. The Falcons flexed their muscles offensively by scoring 53 runs in 5 games. Although contributions were made up an down the lineup, leadoff hitter Zack Whitacre got his season off to an impressive start. The junior went a combined 8-for-16, with 8 runs scored, 6 RBI and a HR.
