Outfielders
Eric Illar, St. Marys HS, Class of 2019
Defensively, Illar displayed a solid showing in the outfield. Illar aggressively plays through ball on the ground with confident glove hand and good technique. He stays in line and follows throws with a developing arm strength of 86 mph.
Offensively, Illar initiates his swing from an open stance. His hands and wrists work well and on time with his body. His swing is a little long, but has enough athleticism to make up for it. a 80 mph exit velocity was recorded.
Colton Matthews, Morgantown HS, Class of 2019
Defensively, Matthews reads the ball well off the bat. Played this fall for the Appalachian Aces and against college competition played a very solid CF. Rounds the ball extremely well and carries momentum into and through his throws. 82 mph arm was recorded.
Offensively, starts in a athletic position with his hands out and away from his body. Uses lower half well and hits to all fields. Recorded a 7.20-sixty which can be attributed to his overall athleticism. He is one of the best overall available 2019's left in the class.
Clay Maholic, University HS, Class of 2020
6-foot, 195-pound left handed hitter, Maholic initiates his swing from a athletic stance, with his hands near his ear. He uses his body and midsection well to create a powerful turn with his hips. Maholic's bat stays in the zone and shows the ability to drive the ball.
Defensively, Maholic rounds the ball well. He carries his momentum well into his throws. He has the potential to be a next level outfielder.
Samuel Romano, Notre Dame HS, Class of 2020
Offensively, Romano has a inside out swing and drives the ball to the opposite field. Romano uses his body well during his swing which he initiates out of a open athletic stance. Romano shows solid athleticism as evident by running a 7.18 - sixty. A 74 mph bat exit velocity was registered.
Defensively, Romano shows some hesitation when fielding the ball off the ground and has the tendency to catch the ball on the side of his body. Romano does show adequate arm strength with a 80 mph arm velocity.
Nathan Paulsen, Bridgeport HS, Class of 2021
Paulsen's 5-foot-11, 155-pound frame displayed athleticism in the outfield by running a 7.19 - sixty. Defensively, Paulsen watches the ball into his glove. He would benefit from fielding the ball more inside of his frame, but his hands and arm are adequate with a 74 mph arm from the outfield.
Offensively, Paulsen swings mostly with his upper half and doesn't use his bottom half much. Paulsen would benefit from using his core and midsection more to create torque. A bat exit velocity of 74 mph was registered off the tee.
Quintin Reep, Bridgeport HS, Class of 2020
Defensively, Reep shows confidence in a good athletic fielding position. He gets behind the ball well and fields the ball inside his body. A 74 mph arm velocity was recorded.
Offensively, Reep initiates his swing out of a slightly open, athletic stance. His swing is solid as he gets his hands in sink with his stride. A 84 mph exit velocity was recorded off the tee.
Jordan Mize, Greenbrier East HS, Class of 2021
Defensively, Mize shows athleticism with running a 7.21-sixty. Gets around the ball and keeps momentum going through his target. Flashes solid glove hand and a 72 mph positional velocity.
Offensively, initiates swing in a spread athletic position. Displayed a compact, stroke from the right side. Registered a 79 mph exit velocity off the tee.
Remy Monteleone, Mars HS (PA), Class of 2021
5-foot-7, 145-pound OF athlete out of Mars HS. in Pennsylvania initiates his swing out of an athletic open stance. Monteleone uses his front foot as a timing mechanism. Has the tendency to drift through his swing. Would benefit from working on keeping his weight back as long as possible. Showed good athleticism by running a 7.31 - sixty and registered a exit velocity of 72 mph off the tee.
Defensively, shows confidence in his glove hand by fielding the ball outside his body consistently. He does stay in line with his target and uses his body effectively.
