Western PA College Prospect Showcase Analysis: Outielders

The 2015 Western PA College Prospect Showcase took place on July 1 on the campus of Seton Hill University. Our rundown of the participants continues today with the 17 outfielders in attendance.

outfielders:  Class of 2016


Joseph Dodrill, OF, Bridgeport (WV)

Flashed a well-rounded skill set that placed him among the top outfield prospects in attendance. Dodrill hits from a slightly open stance. The 5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed hitter barreled the baseball consistently with a flat bat path while showing the ability to use all fields. Dodrill showed athletic actions in the outfield with an accurate 82 mph arm and ran a 7.01 60-yard dash. 

Nicolas Feret, LHP/OF, Greater Latrobe

6-foot, 170-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a lift and replace stride that initiates and inside out swing leading to a 72 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased a 7.47 60-yard dash with a 63 mph arm from the outfield. All-around game would benefit from strength gains and physical maturation. 

Evan Lutz, OF, Cranberry

5-foot-10, 145-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a high hands load a short lift and replace stride. Demonstrated an above average feel for the barrel with an 81 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased athletic actions defensively with a 7.13 60-yard dash and an accurate 80 mph arm with solid straight line carry. 

Austin Puskar, OF, Connellsville

5-foot-10, 185-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from an open stance with a high hands load. Displayed a fluid swing with a feel for the barrel initiated by a lift and replace stride. Showcased an 80 mph bat exit velocity, an 83 mph arm from the outfield and ran a 7.40 60-yard dash. Projects as a corner outfielder at next level, but also plays first base. 

Blake Randell, OF, Ellwood City

5-foot-10,160-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a high hands load. A lift and replace stride initiates quick hands and a short swing path that produce a bat exit velocity of 79 mph. Showcased a 7.23 60-yard dash and an accurate 83 mph arm from the outfield with straight line carry.

Josh Sherback, OF, Greensburg-Salem

5-foot-11, 165-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a short lift and replace stride. Line drive approach at plate leads to a bat exit velocity of 71 mph. Showcased a 7.68 60-yard dash and a 73 mph arm from the outfield.

Robby Heberle, LHP/OF, South Side

5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from an open stance with a lift and replace stride. Displayed a feel for the barrel and a 79 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased a 7.63 60-yard dash and an accurate 77 mph arm from the outfield. 

Zach Kokoska, LHP/OF, Greater Latrobe

6-foot-1, 185-pound left-handed hitter. Top two-way prospect in attendance. Starts from a square stance and initiates swing with a leg lift stride. Fluid, balanced swing with a feel for the barrel leads to a 91 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased athletic actions defensively with a 6.87 60-yard dash and a 91 mph arm with above average straight line carry.

Matt Privette, OF, Central Catholic 

5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a short lift and replace stride. Basic swing with raw athleticism leads to direct path to baseball and a 79 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased a 6.84 60-yard dash and an accurate 75 mph arm. Continued development is likely with additional strength gains and physical maturation. 

John Servello, OF, Hollidaysburg

6-foot, 195-pound right-handed hitter took an impressive round of batting practice. Starts from a square stance and creates an 86 mph bat exit velocity with above average rhythm and feel for the barrel. Physical athlete showcased a 7.25 60-yard dash and an 89 mph arm from the outfield with above average carry. 

Hunter Treece, RHP/OF, Pine-Richland

5-foot-10, 165-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a leg lift stride. Demonstrated the ability to routinely stay inside the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Showcased athletic actions defensively with a 7.31 60-yard dash and an 84 mph arm from the outfield.

Konnor Corchado, OF, Chartiers Valley, 2018

5-foot-10, 1160-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a toe tap stride. Displayed quick hands, a direct swing path and the ability to barrel the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Showcased athletic actions defensively with a 7.03 60-yard dash and an 84 mph arm from the outfield.

Dominic DeLuca, OF, Penn-Trafford, 2018

5-foot-9, 150-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a small lift and replace stride. Displayed a short swing path and the ability to barrel the baseball routinely with a bat exit velocity of 75 mph. Showcased a 7.34 60-yard dash and an accurate 75 mph arm from the outfield. Will benefit from physical maturation and continued strength gains.

Bo Haines, OF/LHP, Ringgold, 2018

5-foot-11, 185-pound left-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a small lift and replace stride. Sits on backside well and creates significant barrel whip with a strong lower half. Took top round of batting practice at the event repeatedly driving baseballs to the right field wall with a bat exit velocity of 94 mph. Showcased his athleticism by running a 6.89 60-yard dash and displayed a 79 mph arm from the outfield. Additional work on footwork and fluidity defensively will place Haines among the top outfield recruits in this class. 

Jacob Jewart, RHP/OF, Moniteau, 2018

5-foot-7, 140-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a heel raise stride. Displayed a flat barrel path and the ability to frequently barrel the baseball with a bat exit velocity of 72 mph. Showcased a 7.20 60-yard dash and a solid 79 mph bat exit velocity with solid straight line carry. 

Ben Mongelluzzo, OF/RHP, Penn-Trafford, 2018

5-foot-11, 160-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a square stance with a small lift and replace stride. Displayed the ability to stay inside baseball with a feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Showcased a 7.23 60-yard dash and an accurate 75 mph arm from the outfield.

Christian Pfrogner, OF/RHP, Penn-Trafford, 2018

5-foot-10, 155-pound right-handed hitter. Starts from a narrow, square stance and initiates his swing with a short lift and replace stride. Displayed the ability to barrel the baseball routinely with a 77 mph bat exit velocity. Showcased athletic defensive actions with a 7.37 60-yard dash and a solid 78 mph arm from the outfield.
