Western PA Top Prospect Games: Day One Review

A number of prospects had impressive performances on the first day of the 2016 Western PA Top Prospect Games including very solid defensive performances from a trio of 2019 catchers; Cameron Vozel (Seneca Valley), Vinny Mastrangelo (Beaver Area) and Burke Camper (Hampton Area).

Following is a brief look at others that stood out on the the first day of the two day event.

+ C/RHP Tyler Peterson and OF/RHP John Servello, a pair of 2017 teammates from Hollidaysburg Area tuned in the top bat exit velocities of the event at 96 mph. Servello also showcased the top velocity on the mound topping at 89 mph and went 3-for-3 with two doubles at the plate.

+ 2017 LHP Michael Crawford (West Allegheny) flashed a polished delivery and command of a three pitch mix sitting 82-84 with a two-plane 73 mph breaking ball while striking out four in three innings of work.

+ 2017 OF Nate Emerson (Franklin) went 2-for-3 at the plate and made a fully laid out diving catch in center field.

+ 2018 SS/RHP Steven Miller (North Hills) went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and topped at 84 mph on the bump with an easy, fluid delivery.

+ 2017 C/3B Drew Hefner (Bridgeport, WV) took one of the top rounds of batting practice on the day and showcased college ready skills behind the plate in a solid first day showing.

+ 2017 RHP Brian Hellested (Penn-Trafford) sat 84-86 with our strikeouts in three innings of work.

+ 2018 RHP Zach Rohaley sat 83-85 while creating very deceptive angles to the plate in working three innings of no-hit baseball with six punch outs.

+ 2017 SS/RHP Kyle Goodwin (Parkersburg, WV) showcased a top-of the order left-handed bat going 2-for-4 with two doubles on the day. 

+ 2018 3B/SS Lucas Folmar (Harbor Creek) flashed a sweet left-handed swing with barreling the baseball in four at bats (3-4, 3B).

+ 2018 2B/SS Michael Turconi (Blackhawk) showcased a college ready swing from the left-side and advanced defensive abilities in a solid first day showing.

Day Two Schedule:

9:00am  Red Team vs. White Team
1:00pm  Black Team vs. Grey Team
5:00pm  Blue Team vs. Gold Team

* Players report 90 minutes prior to game 
* 60-yared dash and defensive evaluations will precede each game
