6/23/21

6-foot-1, 170-pound. Above average at the plate, Burns had a max exit velocity of 91 mph. Had an athletic stance. Bat speed was above average, and showed a loose swing plane. Found multiple barrels during his rounds. Gap to gap approach. Showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 85 mph; has next level hands, smooth feet, and a clean exchange. Had a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.39.

2/20/21

'22 SS Tucker Burns had himself a day at the plate for the Senators. He’s been widely known for his glove at shortstop, but the bat has arrived over the past year and it’s a real weapon. With his team trailing 1-0 against Hoover in the top of the 2nd, Burns sparked the Senator offense with a solo home run over the left field wall. He took advantage of an elevated fastball and did not miss it to knot things back up at 1-1. He continued to swing it well all game, and was the Senators’ leading hitter for the game. Recorded a single later in the game and finished with three RBI’s for the game.

1/18/20

Love the defensive actions at SS on the ‘22 grad. Can really pick it and shows natural actions from ball in glove to transfer and does a nice job working momentum through the throw. Has some quick twitch skill defensively. Carries himself very well. At the plate the feet start slightly open from a tall stance and he does a nice job keeping the head still during the set up and swing. Has some tilt in the swing path and shows a mostly pull side approach, creating some backspin off the bat. Nice finish through contact as well.

11/03/19

The guy can flat defend at SS and moves very well on the dirt. Easy actions on the dirt and does a nice job with the feet, before and after fielding the ground ball. Looked super athletic on the back hand play and had a quick transfer from glove to throw. Has a knack for getting himself in position for a nice hop off the bat. Big time defensive actions. At the plate, he showed a tall set up with nice rhythm in the load of the hands. The feet started slightly open and he did a nice job with a quiet front side. Really did a nice job staying in the zone with the barrel Had 3 hits with a 2B and 2 RBI’s in game play.

10/20/19

At the plate, the ‘22 grad showed a solid middle of the field approach from an open stance and a simple toe tap approach to get timed up. He handled the barrel very well to all fields and there is slight tilt in the swing plane also showing nice extension through the hitting zone. Does a nice job using his lower half in the swing.  At SS, the actions are solid with nice arm strength and a very quick transfer after the ball is in the glove. The feet work well and the glove works well. Seemed very light on his feet in the dirt. Showed the ability to throw from different arm angles with accuracy.
