Right-handed hitter, open stance into toe tap, lands slightly closed with high finish. Small load to the back shoulder, staying connected to start downward move. Short swing, gets on plane early with efficient path, some present bat speed, showing feel for the barrel. Used a mid-pull approach, 94.3mph exit velocity. Fields ball in a semi wide stance in the center of his body. Athletic footwork, slower tempo to field, soft quiet hands. Short arm with quick exchanges, more velocity with added momentum, 81mph arm strength. Solid day across the board. Follow going into spring season.
5-foot-11 170-pounds, lean defined body, balanced frame, athleticism stands out, some strength. Multi-sport athlete, football. Well-rounded player with significant upside. Hits from a somewhat raw approach. Starts in a squared base, pre-loading onto his front toe with a subtle toe tap. Gap to gap approach, looks to hit the ball in the air. 91mph exit velocity, hit a ball at 95mph in live BP. Soft hands, rhythm in the field, creates angles. Quick feet ran a 7.08 60-yard dash. Arm should improve by learning and gaining more experience at the shortstop position. There is more velocity there as he has a short quick release while keeping his feet moving. Grantham’s athleticism should make him a strong follow.
