One of the best athletes at the scout day, Padgham, showed her excellent speed for a 2023 grad, running a hair over a seven-flat on a slow track. Picked it well on the infield, ranges well to the ball, good footwork at approach, and a lower arm slot that was quick out of the glove and accurate across the diamond. At the plate, Padgham continued to showcase her athleticism with a fast-twitch swing; roping line drives gap to gap with good bat speed with a relatively level bat path that stayed through the hitting zone a long time. Overall her athleticism plays, and her entire skillset is excellent. As a two-way threat for any club, Raine is one of the better overall players out of the 2023's.
Padgham understands what her objective is on the mound, pound the zone and keep hitters off-balance with three pitches. All of Raines' pitches have good depth paired with a consistent arm speed and release point, making it challenging for hitters to discern whether FB, CH or CB until it's too late. She uses her size well, utilizing her lower half and keeping her arm long, loose and whippy, allowing her to get great extension down the mound. Look for Raine to make some loud noise on the National stage for years to come.
